Dave Grohl hits the studio with bandmate's side project

Dave Grohl has given his Foo Fighters bandmate Taylor Hawkins' side project a big boost by joining the group in the studio.

The former Nirvana star features on one track on The Birds of Satan's self-titled debut, which will be released in April (14).

Foo Fighters and Nirvana guitarist Pat Smear is also a guest on the album, which was reportedly recorded in less than a week.

Joining drummer Hawkins in the new band is Wiley Hodgden and Mick Murphy.

Alternative rockers Sunny Day Real Estate are set to mark Record Store Day in April (14) by releasing their first new material in 14 years.

Singer Jeremy Enigk, bassist Nate Mendel, drummer William Goldsmith and guitarist Dan Hoerner rose to fame in 1994 with its debut project Diary, but split just a year later (95).

They reformed in 1997 without Mendel - who had joined the Foo Fighters with Goldsmith - and released two albums in 1998 and 2000, but parted ways again in 2001, before all four members teamed up for a reunion tour in 2009.

Dave Grohl and Jordyn Blum are expecting their third child.
The Foo Fighters star's 37-year-old wife, whom he married in 2003, is set to give birth to another baby girl this year.
A source told UsMagazine.com that the couple, who already have daughters Violet Maye, eight, and Harper Willow, five, are struggling to come up with a name for their unborn baby, as they have already used all of the names they liked for their eldest girls.
Dave recently revealed that he had passed on his love for music, particularly the Beatles, to his children.

Beyonce joined Jay Z onstage as he performed at a pre-Super Bowl party last night (01.02.14).
The rapper was joined by his wife for a rendition of her recent single 'Drunk in Love' at the DirecTV Super Saturday Night event in New York City.
Beyonce - dressed in a black sheer dress - danced seductively over Jay as he rapped his verse. As the song ended they embraced and shared a kiss.

Foo Fighters are reportedly recording their latest album in 12 studios around the globe.

The American rock band, featuring Dave Grohl, Pat Smear, Nate Mendel, Taylor Hawkins and Chris Shiflett are working on their eighth LP and have said it will be made "in a way that no one's ever done before".

According to Billboard, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and Seattle are already definite choices to record the follow-up to the band's 2011 record Wasting Light and members are scouting other studios around the world.

The Foo Fighters are set to make waves ahead of America's Super Bowl next year (14) by performing on a cruise ship docked on New York City's Hudson River.

The Best of You rockers will take to the stage aboard the unique venue on 1 February (14), just one day before football's biggest game of the season.

Rockers the Foo Fighters will end their year-long concert hiatus by performing live in Mexico City on 13 December (13).

Frontman Dave Grohl had to assure fans the band was not splitting up after onstage remarks he made at some of the group's final world tour shows left devotees fearing the worst, but, after the success of his debut as a documentary maker and drummer Taylor Hawkins' movie debut as Iggy Pop in CBGB, it appears the band is ready to hit the stage again.

Foo Fighters rocker Dave Grohl is in awe after he was honored in his native Ohio with the world's largest pair of drumsticks.

Two 900-pound sticks were carved from local logs and went on display outside the Warren Amphitheater in his hometown of Warren on Saturday as a thanks for putting the city on the map.

The Foo Fighters made the ground shake at a concert in New Zealand this week as experts picked up seismic tremor readings from the gig more than a mile away.

The band took to the stage at Auckland's Western Springs stadium for the outdoor gig on Tuesday and earthquake monitoring devices around the region picked up geological vibrations from the show.
