Country stars Leann Rimes and Florida Georgia Line are teaming up to say farewell to rockers Motley Crue by recording their hits for an odd new tribute album.

Vince Neil and his band announced on Tuesday (28Jan14) they would be retiring following one final 72-date tour, which will begin in July (14) - and as part of a salute to the group, Taylor Swift's label boss at Big Machine Records has announced plans to release a country-flavoured covers album.

The nominations for the 49th annual Academy Of Country Music Awards were announced on Wednesday during an online video event that featured a host of stars including Erin Andrews, 2 Broke Girls star Beth Behrs, Duck Dynasty's Willie & Korie Robertson and Katy Perry, among numerous others.

Florida Georgia Line became the first big winners at the Country Music Associations Awards in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday night (06Nov13) when their hit song Cruise was named Single of the Year.

The duo, who helped Luke Bryan open the show from the Bridgestone Arena, beat out Miranda Lambert, Darius Rucker, Tim McGraw and Kasey Musgraves to win the night's first honour.

The duo's Cruise has just landed a 22nd week at the top of the countdown - one more than hits by country icons Webb Pierce, Hank Snow and Eddy Arnold.
