Miley Cyrus Stars In Controversial Flaming Lips Music Video About LSD

July 9th, 2014 10:19am EDT
Miley Cyrus Stars In Controversial Flaming Lips Music Video Abou
Former Disney star Miley Cyrus isn't one to shy away from controversial topics, so her appearance in the new Flaming Lips video for the appropriately titled "Blonde SuperFreak Steals The Magic Brain," is no stretch.

The video is essentially a trippy tribute to the drug LSD. The band's singer Wayne Coyne said that the song was originally intended to have a reference to LSD. He revealed, "We were lucky enough to get a couple of hours with a bedridden Miley Cyrus. And even though she was still quite ill, she was full of laughs and great absurd suggestions."

The video centers around Miley ...

The Flaming Lips Sell Out from April Fools' Day

The Flaming Lips are paying tribute to rock icons Pink Floyd for the second time, releasing a digital-only LP called "Flaming Side of the Moon."

The new release is meant to be played simultaneously with Floyd's 1973 album "Dark Side of the Moon; and better yet, it even syncs up with "The Wizard of Oz" the same way that "DSotM" does (despite Pink Floyd maintaining that an...

2013 Album Playlist: Favorites, Least Favorites, and Honorable Mentions - Part 1

October 11th, 2013 9:15pm EDT
The 20/20 Experience: 2 of 2
As I look over my 2013 playlist from my iPod, I realize I have listened to numerous albums this year.  In fact, the amount of music that my ears have consumed and my pen has analyzed is pretty scary…and I still missed lots of albums! SMH! Some were special, some made me cringe, and some fell somewhere in between the two extremes.  As difficult as it was, as of October 7, 2013, I have compiled a list housing my favorites, least favorites, and honorable mentions.  I’m almost certain I’ve slighted someone and I’m sure there will be continual revisions, but for now, here’s what you should’ve sp...

He tells MOJO magazine, "I don't really listen to the record that much now. I mean, I like it, but it has an effect on me, too. I'm not really a hopeless person, but when I get immersed in it, I start to believe the things that it says."

The Star Wars Holiday Special
Since the Christmas season plays such an important roll in many people's lives, the holiday invariably leaks into popular culture. Most cartoons eventually tackle the topic of Christmas, which means we've all seen the holiday celebrated in some strange situations. The Flintstones celebrate Christmas despite it taking place a few dozen millennia before the birth of the holiday's namesake. Still, that doesn't seem too strange. Occasionally though, things do get strange. A stone-age Christmas seems normal compared to Pac-man learning the meaning of Christmas from Santa himself. Something about...
