Fine Young Cannibals was a pop band with soul undertones from Birmingham, England. The band formed in 1984 when bassist David Steele and guitarist Andy Cox left their previous band, The Beat. The duo recruited singer Roland Gift and released their self-titled debut album in 1985, which spawned the hits, “Johnny Come Home” and “Suspicious Minds,” an Elvis Presley cover. In 1987 the band recorded songs for the movie “Tin Men,” with the single “Tired of Getting Pushed Around” peaking at #18 on the U.K. Singles chart. 1989 marked the release of their second album, “The Raw and the Cooked,” which topped the U.K. Albums chart and the Billboard 200 Albums chart.
