Thoughts On The 56th Annual Grammy Nominations

December 9th, 2013 8:50pm EST
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
The Grammys are like a musician’s Super Bowl, even if the nominations and victorious artists are flawed.  I won’t lie to you, I complain every year that someone won a Grammy that didn’t deserve it while someone else was snubbed. Just last year, during the 55th Annual Grammys, I lobbied hard for Frank Ocean (looking back, I have reservations now) while Mumford & Sons walked out with the Album of the Year trophy.  The year that Taylor Swift won for Fearless, my girl Beyoncé was on a roll until the coveted Album of the Year award was read.  You get my position though! This year,  I find myself...

A lot of people like to embibe a little on New Year's Eve, but some people tend to embibe too much AND all year long.

Nick Nolte checked into a German rehabilitation clinic to battle his alcohol and drug demons. According to the National Enquirer, Nolte checked in on May 18 with his girlfriend, fitness trainer Clytie Lane. The actor, 69, was given alcohol and drug counseling in a clinic in 2002 after he was arr...

April 9th, 2010 6:20pm EDT
Love You Long Time
Someone should tell Bai Ling that all that glitters is not gold. She attended Faith Evans' RnB concert in Hollywood on Wednesday baring her belly, as usual.

The sequined shirt/jacket could have popped open at any moment, exposing her bosom. Oh, my!

The actress confesses she often bares her boobs at parties because she enjoys titillating and teasing.

She explained, "That is part of the job...You have to sell magazines.

Sometimes, as an actor, part of our job is to be a clown. It's just fun for people to help them get through their lives. During heavy work you need some delightfulness (si...

Review: Lady Gaga's 'The Fame Monster'

November 17th, 2009 11:22am EST
Lady Gaga The Fame Monster
This past Thursday evening we stood outside the office of Interscope Records in New York City. It was a wet, windy and stormy Manhattan evening outside yet the storm was all inside; for it was inside that Lady Gaga's highly anticipated new album "The Fame Monster" was awaiting our ears.

To say that "The Fame Monster" is something out of this world would be an understatement.

Monster is not just some pop or dance album. It is a powerful mix of sounds that would make the squarest of squares, the most gothic of goths and heaviest of heavy metal fans around stop in their tracks and st...

Movie Spotlight: 'Notorious'

January 16th, 2009 11:20am EST
In the last few years, biopics, namely music biopics have become a routine. It's only fitting that Notorious becomes this year's first.

Almost twelve years after his death, Christopher Wallace's story gets the big screen treatment. But the journey from story to screen hasn't been easy. Notorious struggled in development and Training Day's Antoine Fuqua was once attached to direct. Many artists, like Sean Kingston, have made it clear that they had an interest in playing Biggie but none of this was proven as fact. Under the guidance of director George Tillman, Jr. the cast and scri...

The comments put an end to an almost 15-year feud between the two loves of Notorious B.I.G.'s life.

Evans says, "I don't feel she owes me ...

February 14th, 2007 3:08pm EST
Consequence was born in Queens at the dawn of the hip-hop era, when all rap was East Coast rap and all of rap's influential early artists were based in the New York City area. Throughout his career, Consequence gained credibility not only on the streets with his peers but with the critics as well. A gifted storyteller, he has a keen and unwavering sense of what he is all about. His objective realizm provides a clear alternative not only to gangsta rap but also to the watered-down and overly calculated pop-rap. "What I rhyme about is what I see around me, I'm a result of the hood, my rhymes ...

Kelly Price
Kelly Price has been said to possess one of the most extraordinary voices in modern music. Born and reared in Queens, NY, Price’s musical talent showed itself at an early age. Price’s mother vividly recalls the many, many nights the household was awakened to the sound of Kelly singing out from her crib. As a child of the Church, both of her parents are ordained ministers, music became inextricably intertwined with the emotional fabric of her life, and it was through music that she expressed feelings she was often unable to speak aloud. One day, after being deeply saddened by a book she read...
