Melissa Etheridge's Opposition To Proposition 8

October 30th, 2008 2:31pm EDT
Melissa Etheridge
Melissa Etheridge is convinced a move to ban same-sex marriages in California is destined to fail - because even her nine-year-old son branded it "lame."

The singer wed her partner Tammy Lynn Michaels in 2003, just a day after state officials granted homosexual couples domestic partnership rights.

And she is dismayed at California's Proposition 8 ballot - which aims to roll back the law and make gay marriage illegal again - but is adamant it will be defeated when it goes to a vote on November 4.

Etheridge writes on the Daily Beast website, "Prop 8 is a blatantly hateful, and ...

Concerts Break Out At The DNC and RNC Conventions

September 8th, 2008 2:26pm EDT
Barack Obama
Conventions or Concerts?

The month of August brought the U.S. two big music festivals, one in Denver and one in the Twin Cities. Oh, wait, what's that you say? These weren't music festivals, but the Democratic and Republican National Conventions? Interesting. In the past, presidential candidates have used music as part of their campaigns, but never before like this. This summer, the 2008 Democratic and Republican National Conventions crossed politics and music so much that they rose to concert-like levels.

Obamapalooza, err, I mean the DNC featured performances by Melissa Ether...

Celebrity Horoscope: Gemini

May 22nd, 2008 8:30am EDT
Angelina Jolie
Gemini (May 22-June 21) are said to have a dual nature. The astrological symbol for Gemini is the Roman numeral for two, representing twins and duality.

Twin sisters Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen are Geminis. Last year the 21-year-old power duo earned $17 million, and they are planning on releasing a coffee table book about their fashion inspirations.

Gemini can be fickle. Those born under this sign represent the yin and the yang, or the law of opposites. It can be no coincidence that Anne Heche is a Gemini. She famously dated Ellen DeGeneres but later married a man. She di...
