How Did Eminem Lose So Much Weight?

8/3/2015 11:58am EDT
Eminem has opened up about how his 2007 drug overdose spurred him to get in shape.

The rapper told Men's Journal in a first-person account: "In 2007, I overdosed on pills, and I went into the hospital. I was close to 230 pounds. I'm not sure how I got so big, but I have ideas. The coating on the Vicodin and the Valium I'd been taking for years leaves a hole in your stomach, so to avoid a stomachache, I was constantly eating — and eating badly."

The singer had trouble sleeping so he started running, which gave him a natural endorphin high.

"It's easy to understand how people replace addic...

7/29/2015 4:01pm EDT
Review: 'Southpaw' Soundtrack Has Some Outstanding Moments
Soundtracks, outside of serving the function of accompanying music for film or television, are often less enthralling listening experiences by themselves. In other words, many times, a musical compilation that works exceptionally behind a visual can lack the same luster when listening without the visual. While the soundtrack to Southpaw falls into some of the pitfalls of the soundtrack or compilation, there are a variety of enjoyable musical performances, even if they or Southpaw as a whole doesn’t supplant your favorite hip-hop album.

Among the best moments on Southpaw unsurprisingly...

7/25/2015 1:00pm EDT
13 Songs Representing 'God Status’ In Rap
“I am a god!” Okay then Kanye – If you say so! It is no secret that one of the qualifications to be a rapper is to be cocky and confident. Face it, who wants to listen to a rapper who isn’t at least a little bit conceited? Nobody. So, this list has got the conceited part nailed down firmly, as each of these 13 songs exemplify “god status.”

What is “god status” exactly? It’s this idea that, particularly in rap, of likening oneself to God as far as status or being a figurehead, without asserting to be God himself. Because rappers are often braggadocios creatures, many have released songs...

It's very sweet. "Sorry if it looks a little sloppy," Eminem begins the letter. "I could've done a little better if I had the right pencils. Instead, I had to draw it in pen. Ranking the very best albums of any year is incredibly difficult; there are always misses. 2013 was filled with some triumphant musical moments, though not all of their parent albums were necessarily ‘worthy’ of being considered the best of the year.
