Elbow Promise An 'Epic' Olympics Track

January 23rd, 2012 1:39pm EST
Elbow
British rockers Elbow have promised fans they can expect an "epic" sound when they release the official BBC soundtrack to the 2012 London Olympics.

The band landed the honor of writing the theme tune for the highly-anticipated sporting event's coverage on the revered British network, and they have come up with a six-minute track.

Bassist Pete Turner insists sports followers can expect a tune to match the gravitas of the Olympics, as it will feature a huge gospel choir and the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.

He tells Noise11, "That was really good. Just an area that we've never explored, r...

Peter Gabriel Rethinking Covers Album Project

October 10th, 2011 9:40pm EDT
Peter Gabriel
Peter Gabriel is re-imagining his "I'll Scratch Yours" covers album project - because so many artists whose hits he covered on his "Scratch My Back" release aren't interested in reworking his songs.

Gabriel recorded orchestral renditions of songs by David Bowie, Arcade Fire, Neil Young and Radiohead among others for the 2010 album and he had hoped the artists would return the favor for a covers album of his own work.

But too many of the acts he honored with orchestral makeovers aren't interested in being part of the project.

He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I've sort of given up waiting...

Concert Review: Elbow At Center Stage In Atlanta

August 28th, 2009 8:05am EDT
Elbow
There are few greater experiences than being surprised. And surprised I was when I attended my first Elbow concert. Actually, stunned is the word. After becoming familiar with this superb quintet just recently, I took a chance and decided to check them out in person. I can genuinely say, ladies and gentlemen, that the clouds parted for me that evening in Atlanta. How have I missed them? This is their fourth album and I'm just now showing an interest? It's just not fair.

Hailing from the musically rich city of Manchester, England, Elbow just came off a supporting role on Coldplay's Viva ...
