Sean 'Diddy' Combs received a moving tribute from fellow hip-hop star Dr. Dre at the ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards in Los Angeles on Friday night.

The rap mogul was the toast of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers' (ASCAP) annual gala and was handed the coveted Founders Award in recognition of his contribution to the music industry.

Rap and movie mogul Ice Cube has confirmed reports of a planned biopic about his groundbreaking former group N.W.A.

The "It Was a Good Day" hitmaker fronted the original gangsta rap act with Dr. Dre and admits he's working on a new film about "the world's most dangerous group."

He says, "I think N.W.A. changed a lot in pop culture and people should see how we started, how the neighborhood we came from created N.W.A. and then N.W.A. changed the neighborhoods we come from. It's definitely a story that needs to be told."

Legendary rapper/producer Dr. Dre has won a legal ruling entitling him to 100 per cent of the profits of digital sales of his iconic album, The Chronic.

Dr. Dre, real name Andre Young, took label executives to court last year, alleging they were improperly selling his 1992 debut online and using his hits in compilations without his authorization.

Rapper Nate Dogg has died at age 41.

Snoop Dogg's cousin - real name Nathaniel Hale - passed away on Tuesday following a lengthy battle with numerous health issues, reports the Long Beach Press Telegram.

Hale, whose cause of death is not yet known, suffered a series of strokes in 2007 and 2008, which left him paralyzed down the left side of his body.

His pal Warren G appealed to fans in November asking them to help contribute to the star's medical costs as he underwent a lengthy rehabilitation process to regain the ability to walk and talk.

Forbes magazine editors estimate Diddy has a fortune of $475 million - just $25 million more than his rap mogul rival Jay-Z.

Rap mogul Dr. Dre is facing a $1.2 million lawsuit for allegedly failing to pay for studio time.

The legendary producer is being sued by Paramount Recording Studios in California for breach of contract.

The Without Me hit-maker returned to the charts last year with Relapse, his first release since 2004's Encore.
