Tupac's Mom Approves Of Coachella Hologram Tribute

Iconic rapper Tupac Shakur found new life over the weekend thanks to Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre and special effects company Digital Domain, which produced a hologram of the late star for a "performance" with the two living rappers at this year's Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival.

The rap stars' set was the talk of the festival after Sunday night's finale, and Tupac's mother - who handles most of the slain star's affairs - has given her approval and applauded the performance.

A rep for Afeni Shakur told TMZ.com that she "was absolutely positively thrilled with Tupac's virtual performance".

The hip-hop star, real name Nathaniel Dwayne Hale, passed away in March, 2011, after suffering complications from multiple strokes.

Hip-hop icon Dr. Dre is set to produce his first film.

The rapper-turned-actor will step behind the camera for upcoming thriller "Thaw," which tells the story of an ancient evil that surfaces during the melting of the ice caps in northern Canada.

Vik Weet has been tapped to pen the script but a director has yet to sign on for the project, according to industry paper Variety.

Dr. Dre, real name Andre Young, will release the movie under his production banner Crucial Films, which was launched back in 2007 with his business partner Daniel Schnider.

Rapper Dr. Dre has come under fire from animal rights activists for selling headphones which feature real fox fur.

The hip-hop star teamed up with designers at fashion house Oscar de la Renta to create a limited edition range of headphones, which are covered in "luxe silver fox," for his line Beats by Dre.

However, the new sound piece has infuriated bosses at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) and executive Michelle Cho has now written an open letter to the hitmaker, urging him to discontinue the collection and shun the use of fur and exotic-animal skins in the future.

Rapper Nate Dogg has died at age 41.

Snoop Dogg's cousin - real name Nathaniel Hale - passed away on Tuesday following a lengthy battle with numerous health issues, reports the Long Beach Press Telegram.

Hale, whose cause of death is not yet known, suffered a series of strokes in 2007 and 2008, which left him paralyzed down the left side of his body.

The legendary producer is being sued by Paramount Recording Studios in California for breach of contract.
