Sean 'Diddy' Combs tops 2014's Wealthiest Hip Hop Artists list

Sean 'Diddy' Combs has been named 2014's Wealthiest Hip Hop Artist.

Editors at Forbes.com estimate the mogul is worth $700 million (£437.5 million) - $120 million (£75 million) more from last year (13).

They attribute the rise in fortune to the launch of his cable network Revolt TV.

The news comes a day after officials at Howard University announced Combs will receive an honorary doctorate in humanities and will give the commencement speech to graduates at the Washington, D.C. college in May (14).

Lawyers for the rap icon filed suit in California last week claiming that Yamaha PRO headphones infringes the patent of his Beats by Dre range.

The two-weekend Coachella festival experiment was a big success - organizers are planning to stage the event over 10 days again next year.

Radiohead, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg and The Black Keys repeated headlining spots over two weekends last month and the line-up for both California festivals remained unchanged.

The idea proved to be so successful, it will be repeated in 2013.

No headliners or performers have been announced for the 2013 model, but organizers have confirmed the next Coachella will run from April 12-14 and April 19-21.

Dr. Dre has refuted rumors that the Tupac hologram that stunned Coachella last week was a test run for a future tour. In a backstage video, the venerable rapper says that the hologram was implicitly created just for Coachella.

"It was strictly for Coachella. Get it right. I want to get rid of all the rumors out there. This was not done for a tour," Dre says in the video, which was in part created to thank the tech teams behind the hologram.

The rapper-turned-actor will step behind the camera for upcoming thriller "Thaw," which tells the story of an ancient evil that surfaces during the melting of the ice caps in northern Canada.
