Singer Natalie Maines refuses to accept the Dixie Chicks have split even though she has launched a solo career seven years after the country trio last recorded together.

Maines and her bandmates, sisters Emily Robison and Martie Maguire, announced a hiatus in 2006 so they could concentrate on family matters and being mums to their kids.

Robison and Maguire have since formed the band Courtyard Hounds, while Maines has just released her solo album Mother - but there are still no official break-up press releases and Maines insists there never will be.

Dixie Chicks star Natalie Maines is going solo with an album co-produced by pal Ben Harper.

"Mother" will feature tracks written by Eddie Vedder and Jeff Buckley, while the title track is a cover of a Pink Floyd song.

Maines admits it took her a while to pluck up the courage to go solo.

She says, "I was a little apprehensive to do something by myself; I've never done anything without the other Chicks. It was weird at first.

Dixie Chicks star Emily Robison gave birth to a baby girl on Tuesday morning, her first child with Martin Strayer, who plays guitars and piano in her new band Court Yard Hounds.

Violet Isabel is Robison's fourth child; the 40-year old singer has three other kids with her ex-husband, Charlie Robison -- seven-year-old twins Juliana and Henry, and Charles, nine.

Robison's new band is a side project she shares with sister and fellow Dixie Chick Martie Maguire.

"She's excited!" her representative told People.com.

The baby will be her first with boyfriend Martin Strayer. Robison, 39, has seven-year-old twins, Juliana and Henry, and a nine-year-old son, Charles, from her marriage to Charlie Robison. The former couple divorced in 2008 after nine years of marriage.

The Dixie Chicks are reuniting to raise funds for the victims of this summer's wildfires in Texas.

The trio will team up with Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett and Asleep at the Wheel, among others for the Fire Relief: The Concert for Central Texas event on October 17.

The fundraiser will be hosted by Emmy Award-winning Friday Night Lights star Kyle Chandler.

All proceeds will go to the Central Texas Wildfire Fund at the Austin Community Foundation in its efforts to assist families dealing with long-term problems stemming from the wildfires which ravaged the area this summer.

Dixie Chicks star Martie Maguire has given birth to a baby girl.

The singer and her actor husband Gareth Maguire welcomed little Harper Rosie into their family on Friday in an Austin, Texas hospital. The tot weighed in at seven pounds, 10 ounces and measured 20.5 inches long.

A post on the Dixie Chicks' website announces the news of the new arrival, stating: "Martie is doing very well and Gareth and the family are over the moon."

The Maguires are also parents to four-year-old twin daughters Eva Ruth and Kathleen Emilie.
