Singer Brody Dalle Denies Distillers Split

Singer Brody Dalle has dismissed reports her band The Distillers have split - despite two members quitting and her forming her own new group. Dalle, who recently became a mother, insists she's just taking a short hiatus from the band to concentrate on her other project, Spinnerette.

She says, "The band didn't break up, just two people decided to leave. There's not really anything to say, I'm just going to give it a break for a while."

Despite enjoying the challenge of motherhood, Dalle confesses she misses life on the road with her bandmates.

Brody Dalle -- known as the lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist for punk band The Distillers -- has formed a new band called Spinnerette, which will begin recording their debut album in Los Angeles in 2007. Alain Johannes, who has worked with rock luminaries such as PJ Harvey, Eagles of Death Metal, Chris Cornell, and No Doubt, will produce and play on the album.

The Distillers frontwoman Brody Dalle insists the band is still together - despite concentrating on her side project Spinnerette. The star began work on the new group with bandmate Tony Bradley, after the Distillers reportedly disbanded last month. But Dalle insists the band exists "just not as you know it", but admits recording with Spinnerette has given her music "a new beginning".

The Distillers have split after nine years and three studio albums together. The band lost momentum after bassist Ryan Sinn and drummer Andy Granelli left in 2003 and have failed to release a record since.

There is some consolation for fans - frontwoman Brody Dalle and guitarist Tony Bradley have already formed a new band, called Spinnerette.

Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme and Distillers' singer Brody Dalle welcomed their first child, a daughter, into the world on Tuesday, January 17th, in Los Angeles. The baby, Camille Homme, weighed in at 6 lbs 15 oz and is 21 3/4" long. Both mother and daughter are doing very well. Camille's interests include boobs, sleeping, and pooping.
