Blondie And Devo Team Up For Summer Tour

Veteran rockers Blondie and Devo are hitting the road together for a joint nostalgia tour.

The two bands are joining forces for a greatest hits trek, Whip It to Shreds, which kicks off on September 7th, and Blondie frontwoman Debbie Harry insists the pairing is a match made in rock 'n' roll heaven.

"Whip It" rockers Devo have invited out-of-work TV star Charlie Sheen to join them as their touring frontman.

Founding member Gerald Casale admits he has been fascinated by Sheen's media blitz and he'd love to hit the road with the actor once he returns from Haiti, where he's planning to help pal Sean Penn's earthquake relief effort.

Casale reveals he has been watching Sheen's rants and raves on TV and on the Internet - and he thinks the time is right for him to become a rock star.

Reunited Whip It hit-makers Devo are to receive the inaugural Moog Innovation Award for their work with synthesizers.

The band will win a one-of-a-kind Moog synthesizer as part of their triumph in October. The ceremony will take place during the three-day MoogFest 2010, which kicks off in Asheville, North Carolina on October 29th.

Devo, MGMT, Massive Attack and Cee Lo Green are among the acts on the bill.

The award and the festival will ultimately honor electronic music pioneer Dr. Bob Moog.

Devo To Get Animated For 'Futurama'

New wave rockers Devo are to get animated to celebrate the 100th episode of cult show Futurama.

The futuristic Matt Groening series was cancelled in 2003 but fans brought it back to life. To celebrate the 100th show, Groening asked his musical heroes to be a part of the show - and they agreed to play mutant rights activists.

The episode comes as Devo stage a comeback of their own - their upcoming Something for Everybody will be the band's first album in 20 years.

Devo are the unmistakable American rock group formed in Akron, Ohio in 1972 by Kent State art students Jerry Casale and Mark Mothersbaugh. Their debut album, Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo produced by Brian Eno, and was originally released to worldwide acclaim in 1978.
