Q&A: Nathaniel Flatt Of The New Boy Band V Factory
Nathaniel Flatt of up-and-coming boy band V Factory took the time to sit down with Starpulse's Larry Gould and discuss his path to stardom, his influences and what that mysterious "V" in the band's name stands for. V Factory recently cracked the Top 40 with their debut single "Love Struck" and are readying their as-yet-untitled debut album for a release later this year.

Music Spotlight: Depeche Mode 'Sounds Of The Universe'
Upon the first listen of the Depeche Mode's aptly named new 12th studio release, Sounds of the Universe, one will probably be tempted to turn up their music player to check the volume of sonic nuances perceived as error. The band's sound and fragile tension are in itself the beauty of their thirty year legacy as a long-standing electronic music act.
With this in mind, Sounds of the Universe embraces the band's analog vintage past and culminates here in full circle in what can be best described as "yesterday's future." From beginning to end, the band's new release incorporates a var...

The Learning Curve: A Mix Of Light And Loud
This time around the Learning Curve is mixing things up a bit, going from heavy to light and touching on almost everything in-between along the way. This is perhaps one of the more diversified columns I've put together but that doesn't mean the bands are any less talented.

Ironic Quote Of The Day
"My 13 year old is heavily into My Chemical Romance and the emo scene, dying her hair and putting thick make-up on... It's not easy for me to say, 'I don't think you should be going to school like that.'" Depeche Mode star Martin L. Gore has problems telling his youngest daughter what to wear after years of sporting bondage gear at live shows.

The time has come. You've fallen in love. You just can't stop thinking about your significant other. You're ready to take the next step. You're ready to make them a mix tape.
Seems easy right? Just Google "Love Songs" and pop the first 15 you see into your iTunes, hit the circle in the upper right-hand corner and burn away. But not so fast, Romeo. There are pitfalls in the world of blindly including love songs.

Music Technology: Then And Now
Almost everyone owns an Ipod, or some other form of music listening device, that we can thank to the benefits of the changes in music technology. If we were to consider however how the "music" itself has changed due to technology, then the changes in music technology can be viewed from a whole other point of view.
From a broader perspective we can perhaps say it really started with the German Electronic pop group Kraftwerk. They were essentially the first band to have the foresight to mix electronic sounds provided by the "new technology" on hand in the 70's and mix it with the pop s...
