They aren't on the same scale as the Grammy Awards, but the Brit Awards are very important to those on the other side of the pond. Several U.S. stars attended the event in London yesterday to hobnob with their British counterparts.

Rihanna, who just released two controversial songs with her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown, wore a low-cut sparkling dress accessorized with long gloves.

Former "X Factor" judge Nicole Scherzinger opted for a pretty pale yellow strapless gown. And Florence Welch picked a dress that eerily matched her skin tone.

Lana Del Rey
Lana Del Rey is no stranger to a harsh performance review, but if everything that's written is "fiction" then it's no skin off this singer's back.

Much-maligned pop star Lana Del Rey has something to smile about three weeks after she was blasted for her performance on "Saturday Night Live" - she has scored a number one album in Britain.

The New Yorker debuted "Born To Die" at the top of the charts on Sunday - one spot ahead of Leonard Cohen's new album "Old Ideas."

The chart news comes a day after Del Rey was defended in a skit on SNL, during which comedienne Kristen Wiig - portraying the singer - attempted to explain her odd performance on the program last month.

Up-and-coming singer Lana Del Rey has been receiving lots of negative press lately after her performance on Saturday Night Live a few weeks ago; and reviews of her debut album, "Born To Die," have been less than spectacular. (There've been some good ones too).

The singer changed all that last Thursday night with her appearance on Late Show With David Letterman with a haunting performance of her hit song "Video Games."

But then again, SNL picked on Lana (or did they defend her?) in a 'Weekend Update' skit last night, with Kristen Wiig mimicking the singer and explaining her performance.
