Chi Cheng tragedy sparks road safety campaign

November 25th, 2013 3:10am EST

The bassist passed away earlier this year (13) after being in a semi-comatose state since the accident in 2008.

Cheng was thrown from a vehicle in a head-on collision in Santa Clara, California, and his family and friends are backing the newly-launched Buckle Up For Chi campaign, urging motorists to always wear a seat belt.

A campaign spokesman says, "Buckle Up For Chi was established in an effort to honour the memory of an amazing man whose life was tragically changed af...

CD Review: Deftones - 'Koi No Yokan'

November 15th, 2012 2:30pm EST
Written by: Mikey G.

Simply amazing. The end.

OK, I’ll get into it a bit. The 7th installment of the Deftones album collection, Koi No Yokan, is one of, if not the, best to date. They have proved that they have not grown weaker with age, and if anything, they have gotten better and stronger, mastering the music that they have been creating for the better part of two decades. From start to finish this is one of the most mesmerizing albums ever.

From the opening riffs of “Swerve City” to the soothing, almost funky bass lines of closer “What Happened to You,” Koi No Yokan does not ever ce...

2010: The Year That Was – Best Of

December 19th, 2010 1:13pm EST
2010 Best Of
Though 2010 saw a number of good releases from bands all across the musical spectrum, but in the end, it boiled down to a two horse race essentially between the Deftones and their career-defining masterpiece Diamond Eyes and Filter’s career-saving, comeback opus the Trouble with Angels. Both have their strong points, and while neither have many weak points, Diamond Eyes takes the cake. Though the Deftones slot in as Getexposedmusic’s 2010 Album of the Year with Diamond Eyes, keep in mind that Filter and the Trouble with Angels isn’t far behind.

So, sit back, relax and enjoy, he said employ...

A Conversation With Sameer Bhattacharya Of Flyleaf

December 28th, 2009 4:29pm EST
Sure, sure. I have heard it all already. Everyone I know that is a fan of Flyleaf is upset that the band made the decision to take the road less traveled for them, one with less screams and a tad less aggression on their new album, Memento Mori. Yeah, their self titled album was teeming with a certain kind of rawness, a certain power all its own. This time out they took the path of melody and concentrated more of their hooks than anything else and guess what, it worked perfectly. Memento Mori is a great next step for the band, a natural progression if you will. So those that are miffed, res...

The Learning Curve: Music To Contemplate This Week

January 29th, 2009 10:54am EST
New Years Day
(The Learning Curve) There's literally something for everyone's palette. This week is a journey. Hit the dance floor with SS Nova and Blaqk Audio, whip out the air guitar with Lynam, jump in the mosh pit with Demon Hunter and then start singing along with New Years Day.

This week you might see some familiar faces in some of these bands, but still, they are worth a listen. The members that formed these bands sound little or nothing like their old calling cards, so make sure you take the time to listen.

Enjoy my friends.

She reveals Cheng, 38, showed a little response to tests last week, but he remains unconscious in a California hospital.

Check Out OneRepublic, Their Debut CD, 'Dreaming Out Loud,' Is Due Nov. 20

November 12th, 2007 7:00pm EST
It's a curious story but the #4 song on the Billboard Hot 100 this week (issue date October 20) is actually a remix of a song from a band whose debut album has not yet been released. The remixed "Apologize," heard on Timbaland Presents Shock Value, features the rock band OneRepublic, whose debut album-- Dreaming Out Loud--which includes the song's original version, will be issued November 20th on Timbaland's Mosley Music Group imprint via Interscope Records.

Meanwhile, "Apologize" already been on the Hot 100 chart for 10 weeks. "The toughest thing to do is write a hit song," says O...

He said, "It's good to be classic...but it makes us sound like we're kinda old."
