He tells music website Stereogum.com, "It wasn't a goal and it certainly wasn't a reaction to any sort of dissatisfaction to recording with Death Cab or anything like that. It certainly doesn't come out of like, 'I have all these songs to record and I...

Spotlight On The Cute And Quirky Zooey Deschanel

October 20th, 2011 4:00pm EDT
Zooey Deschanel
If you haven’t heard of Zooey Deschanel, you are most likely living under a rock. She’s the cute and quirky girl from Elf, 500 Days of Summer and the one of the only new fall shows that seem to be thriving, New Girl. We love her for a few different reasons. She is married to Death Cab for Cutie front man, Ben Gibbard (I’m sure they make the sweetest music together), she is not afraid to be a big dork (see New Girl) and her character in Failure to Launch (the only good thing about that movie).

The thirty one year old was born in Los Angeles into an entertainment family, hence her and her si...

CD Review: The Lonely Forest, We Sing The Body Electric!

June 5th, 2009 2:31pm EDT
The Lonely Forest
The sources of new music for me are many. Recommendations from friends, reading music reviews, and once in a while, a chance radio experience. While listening to the local college station here in Atlanta recently, I heard a song that I had to find. I called Album 88 (Georgia State University's WRAS) and the DJ told me it was "We Sing In Time" by the Anacortes, WA band The Lonely Forest. My mission was clear: get that album. Following a brief search, I broke down and bought the download.

After several listens into "We Sing The Body Electric!," I had discovered the music that would ...

The performances lineup is Coachella-esque impressive, with U2 and Coldplay joining the likes of Jonas Brothers, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne(!), Paul McCartney(!!) and Radiohead(!!!). But just as important as the performers are the award winners, and if you're in an office pool somewhere or on your way to Vegas and need a little help predicting the winners, you've come to the right place! Concert Review: Death Cab For Cutie, Ninth Street Summerfest, Columbia, MO

June 19th, 2008 11:27am EDT
Death Cab For Cutie
What's in a name? Well, for Seattle's Death Cab For Cutie, a lot. Travel back with me, if you will, to 1967. You may remember a little movie by The Beatles called "The Magical Mystery Tour." In that movie, there is another band, called the Bonzo Dog Doo-Dah Band. They perform a song in that film entitled, "Death Cab For Cutie." Got it?

Now, fast-forward to 2008 and an indie rock group that recently had their new release, "Narrow Stairs," debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Pretty amazing for a band that was relatively unknown until 2005's breakout release "Plans." This ...

The Goth Rock band HIM strangely carries a name that has long been traditionally regarded as a religious associative term. Plus, finding the band on some music search engines is still like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
