June 2nd, 2013 1:01pm EDT
Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo
Former American Idol contestants Ace Young and Diana DeGarmo tied the knot at the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel in Los Angeles, Calif., on Saturday.

The couple were engaged on live TV during the season 11 finale of Idol in 2012, when season five finalist Young got down on one knee and proposed to season three runner-up DeGarmo. They started dating in 2010 after starring together in a Broadway production of "Hair."

"I felt that this would be the perfect place to ask a simple question," Young told host Ryan Seacrest before asking DeGarmo to be his wife.

"I love you to death. You're my best f...

Diana DeGarmo and Ace Young
Wednesday night's American Idol season 11 finale wasn't just about winner Phillip Phillips, or runner-up Jessica Sanchez, for that matter; the night was also a big celebration for two former Idol castoffs.

Season five finalist Ace Young and season three runner-up Diana DeGarmo, who met and began dating in 2010 while starring in the Broadway production of "Hair", got engaged during the night's live event.

"(Idol) has always been home to us and I felt that this would be the perfect place to ask a simple question," Young said to host Ryan Seacrest. He then turned to his bride-to-be and added...

May 24th, 2012 11:07am EDT
Phillip Phillips and Jessica Sanchez
Welcome to the American Idol finale Mega-Diary! Our annual blow-by-blow recap of what used to be the third-biggest night in television and is now somewhere between the 14th Monday Night Football game and the 15th Monday Night Football game.

But no bother! We’ll press on. And here’s a prediction before the show even starts: The contestants will start singing a song and mid-way through they’ll introduce the original artist to join them onstage. Sorry if I just ruined the show for you.

8:03 – What more could I want to start off the finale than my favorite contestant from this year, Heejun Ha...

'American Idol' Recap: Was This The Most Boring Finale Ever?

May 25th, 2011 9:35am EDT
Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery
The most boring finalists ever. That seemed to be the conventional wisdom going into the evening. That, despite a strong start, this season of ‘Idol’ was destined to fall into oblivion with two dull finalists that wouldn’t be able to deliver the finale this Renaissance season deserved.

Yes, that might be true. It may have been more interesting to see James square off against Pia or Jacob take on Haley, but that doesn’t necessarily mean this is the most boring collection of contestants ever, does it?

Here’s a ranking of finale pairings from least boring to most boring:

9 (Least Boring): S...

CMT's 'Gone Country' Is Surprisingly Entertaining

February 11th, 2008 9:35am EST
Dee Snider
"Gone Country," a show in which mostly washed-up singers are resurrected as country stars, is the first show, to my knowledge, on CMT that I've watched in its entirety. I wouldn't call myself a country fan by any means, and at first glance this didn't seem like an appealing show at all. That was until I saw the lineup of goof balls that they had enlisted:

Dee Snider: He's the cross-dressing front man of Twisted Sister whose last major hit was over 20 years ago. I "met" him once in Chicago. He was going through a revolving door with me. I threw some metal horns at him with my hand...

Aside from Kelly Clarkson's and Carrie Underwood's rise to fame, what happened to those other winners w...
