Birth Place: Petersburg, Virginia, U.S.
Years Active: 1988–present
Genres: Hip Hop

Das EFX is a hip-hop duo that consists of MC Skoob (born William “Willie” Hines on November 27, 1970) and Dray (born Andre Weston on September 9, 1970). The duo rose to fame during the early 1990s due to their involvement with EPMD's Hit Squad. Known for their style of rapping in a stream of consciousness type delivery, the duo caught the hip-hop world's attention from the get go. The duo met while attending Virginia State University in 1988 and began performing around campus together. The duo's debut album, “Dead Serious” (1992), was met with critical acclaim and gained them a loyal following. The leading track off the album, “They Want EFX,” peaked in the Top 10 of the Billboard R&B Charts, Top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100 Charts, and #1 on the Hot Rap Tracks Chart. The duo's Follow-up singles: “Mic Checka” and “Straight Out the Sewer” peaked at #1 and #3 on the Hot Rap Tracks Chart, respectively. A year later, the duo collaborated with Ice Cube on his smash hit single “Check Yo Self.”

1993 saw Das EFX's second offering, “Straight Up Sewaside,” achieve moderate success, however by the time the duo's third offering came along their popularity began to dwindle as too many rap and hip-hop artists began to make their unique sound commonplace. As their record label began to collapse in on itself the duo were caught up in the ugly break-up, which resulted in a three-year hiatus from the music world. 1998 marked Das EFX's return with the album, “Generation EFX,” which met with negative press reviews, as did their last album in 2003, “How We Do.” 2006 saw Das EFX on tour with DJ Rondevu. The duo continues to tour internationally and play to smaller audiences in the states. 2010 returned the duo to the studio to begin work on a new album.
