Dan Wilson (born May 20, 1961 in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is a Minnesota-based guitarist, vocalist, and songwriter. He is both a solo artist, signed to Rick Rubin's American Recordings, and the lead singer of the occasionally-active band Semisonic, for which he wrote the hits "Secret Smile", "Closing Time", and "Chemistry". He was also a member of Trip Shakespeare from the mid-1980s to early 1990s, and of The Love Monsters in the early 1980s. Wilson is perhaps best known currently for the number of songs he co-wrote with the Dixie Chicks' 2006 album ''Taking the Long Way'', which garnered the coveted Album of the Year at the Grammy Awards, including "Not Ready to Make Nice", for which he won ...
