Which Celebrities Are Rumored To Be In The Illuminati?

12/11/2014 11:27pm EST
Celebrities That Conspiracy Theorists Claim Are Members Of The I
The Illuminati, that fabled organization of rich folks who run everything and aspire to take over the planet with a new world order (and may or may not even exist) is supposedly filled with dozens of Hollywood's elite.

Historically, the Illuminati began as a secret society in Bavaria during the during the 18th century, when Adam Weishaupt founded the "Order of the Illuminati" on May 1, 1776 in Ingolstadt, Upper Bavaria.

The caste is mostly comprised of rich white males, although wealth -- whether inherited or self-made -- is something that will get anyone in, thus the alleged involvement ...

10 Best Daft Punk Songs

11/8/2014 3:30pm EST
Daft Punk's 10 Best Tracks
Daft Punk had the biggest year of their career in 2013, with “Get Lucky” rising to the top of the charts and Random Access Memories winning Album of the Year. But longtime fans of Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo know that they have been huge names in electronic dance music for a while, starting with their 1997 debut house breakthrough Homework. They followed that up in 2001 with the dreamy Discovery and then in 2005 with the ironically titled Human After All, easily their most robotic album yet. With their return on the retro, disco-tinged RAM, they established themselve...

New Daft Punk Track Featuring Jay-Z Leaks Online, But Is It Real?

3/11/2014 8:01pm EDT
Daft Punk
If you ever wanted to hear Jay-Z rap his typical "uhs" and "yeahs" over the beats of a Daft Punk song, you're in luck.

No one knows exactly when, but the French EDM duo and Hova recorded a single called "Computerized" sometime during the last few years, according to numerous reports, and the song leaked online on Monday. The song's legitimacy has also been questioned by fans and critics alike, which may explain why it was never released.

The song comprises most of the robot duo's "The Son Of Flynn" off their soundtrack for Disney's "Tron Legacy with their repeating robotic vocal "computer...

2014 Grammy Awards Reactions: The Triumphs And Fails
Another year and another Grammys ceremony has come and passed. As always, there were moments that thrilled while others made me curse under my breath. Luckily, as a music journalist, this guy has learned how to think like the Recording Academy, hence the accuracy of many of my picks this year. Still, even being correct, you have to wonder what the Academy is thinking sometimes. Yes, I’m specifically referencing the fact that Kendrick Lamar was shut out – ridiculous! But here goes nothing examining the awards given.

Five Best Performances From The 2014 Grammys

1/28/2014 1:05am EST
Daft Punk Grammys
With so many great live performances at Sunday night's 56th Grammy Awards, it's been hard* whittling them all down to the five best. Well, the five best that didn't include any weddings, Broadway adaptations of Little Red Riding Hood meets Harry Potter meets Showgirls, or cut-off performances, that is.

The night was all about mixing the past with the present, and in some cases the past, present and future.

5. Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Merle Haggard and Blake Shelton: 2/4 of the original Highwaymen with the legendary Haggard and modern Country giant Shelton wasn't the tightest voc...

'Buffalo' Hat Worn By Pharrell Williams At The Grammys Steeped In History

1/27/2014 6:00pm EST
Pharrell Williams Buffalo Hat Grammys
Pharrell Williams arrived at Sunday night's Grammy Awards wearing a big brown hat that had everybody talking.

The producer and his hat took center stage several times during the awards ceremony to accept awards with "Get Lucky" collaborators Daft Punk, causing numerous comparisons to the likes of Smokey the Bear, Canadian Mounties and the logo of fast food joint Arby's.

But the hat does have a history and is nothing new, in fact, it was created over 30 years ago.

Designer Vivienne Westwood created the hat as part of her 1982 "Buffalo" collection, after which the chapeau made an appearanc...

The 56th Annual Grammy Awards Broadcast takes place on Sunday, January 26th. First things first, let’s look at the BIG FOUR predictions

The 51 Best Albums Of 2013 - What Made Your List?

12/30/2013 6:00pm EST
Daft Punk
Ranking the very best albums of any year is incredibly difficult; there are always misses. 2013 was filled with some triumphant musical moments, though not all of their parent albums were necessarily ‘worthy’ of being considered the best of the year. Because of various factors, this list has its surprises and like any album reviewed, its triumphs and flaws. One thing’s for sure – the top ten to fifteen albums are pretty close to the cream of the crop from my perspective. Here are the 50 (+1) best albums of 2013!

1) Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires of the City

Thoughts On The 56th Annual Grammy Nominations

12/9/2013 8:50pm EST
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
The Grammys are like a musician’s Super Bowl, even if the nominations and victorious artists are flawed.  I won’t lie to you, I complain every year that someone won a Grammy that didn’t deserve it while someone else was snubbed. Just last year, during the 55th Annual Grammys, I lobbied hard for Frank Ocean (looking back, I have reservations now) while Mumford & Sons walked out with the Album of the Year trophy.  The year that Taylor Swift won for Fearless, my girl Beyoncé was on a roll until the coveted Album of the Year award was read.  You get my position though! This year,  I find myself...

2013 Album Playlist: Favorites, Least Favorites, and Honorable Mentions - Part 1

10/11/2013 9:15pm EDT
The 20/20 Experience: 2 of 2
As I look over my 2013 playlist from my iPod, I realize I have listened to numerous albums this year.  In fact, the amount of music that my ears have consumed and my pen has analyzed is pretty scary…and I still missed lots of albums! SMH! Some were special, some made me cringe, and some fell somewhere in between the two extremes.  As difficult as it was, as of October 7, 2013, I have compiled a list housing my favorites, least favorites, and honorable mentions.  I’m almost certain I’ve slighted someone and I’m sure there will be continual revisions, but for now, here’s what you should’ve sp...

Potential Grammy Nominees, Mid September 2013 Edition

9/21/2013 10:30am EDT
Random Access Memories : Daft Punk
If the Grammys were held mid September, based on an eligibility period ranging from October 1, 2012 to present, who would be frontrunners for nominations? Previously, did a mid-year edition of potential nominees (kinda like the way-too-early polls done in sports), but now that we have a little more info, has there been much change?  This time I examine five who seem Grammy-worthy as far as overall profile.

ROTY =  Record of the year

AOTY =  Album of the year

SOTY =  Song of the year

BNA   =  Best New Artist

1 Justin Timberlake (The 20/20 Experience)

Lose Yourself to Dance – Daft Punk's New Music Video

9/18/2013 11:30am EDT
Daft Punk
In a recent interview with MTV News, Nile Rodgers told MTV how their new music video, “Lose Yourself to Dance” came together.

The Daft Punk video came about like this:

‘Hey Nile, what are you doing?’

‘I’m in Europe.’

‘Can you get over here and do a music video?’

‘Sure, OK, cool.’

It was that simple,

Daft Punk gave us a little piece of their video for “Lose Yourself To Dance” before introducing Pharrell Williams and Nile Rodgers as collaborators at the 2013 Video Music Awards. They released full music video on Monday (September 16).

The first video from the band’s latest album, R...

Here is a list of the 20 Best Songs of 2013 (So Far). We would like to say they are in chronological order but lets be honest; we'd be lying if we said that. This is a list of extremely mind blowing music that will surely get you in the mood for an epic box-social!;).

Daft Punk Had No Plans To Talk Or Perform On 'Colbert Report'

8/13/2013 7:07pm EDT
Daft Punk
A week after Stephen Colbert revealed on his show The Colbert Report that French electronic duo Daft Punk canceled their appearance at the last minute, more details of their planned appearance have come out.

Colbert had planned on having the secretive pair sit and silently nod their heads for seven minutes while the host attempted to interview them. He would then perform a six-minute montage of himself dancing to their single Get Lucky with Hollywood stars Hugh Laurie, Bryan Cranston, Matt Damon, Jeff Bridges, Jimmy Fallon and Jon Stewart  among others. The footage would be used later by C...

Daft Punk Cancels On Stephen Colbert, Who Reveals Their Secret Appearance At VMAs

8/7/2013 12:07pm EDT
Stephen Colbert
It's safe to say Stephen Colbert called in all his favors with his famous friends last night after Daft Punk canceled on his show The Colbert Report.

Colbert was open about the sudden change in programming, ripping into MTV and parent company Viacom (who also owns Comedy Central, which his show airs on). The French techno dup was set to be the star of his yearly summer music showcase StePhest Colbchella, but was told last-minute they wouldn't be showing up - because they have an appearance on MTV in a month.

Confused yet? Stephen was, until he learned that MTV made Daft Punk sign a contra...

Nile Rodgers Plans Another Collaboration With Daft Punk After Discovering Lost Chic Tapes

7/11/2013 11:39am EDT
Daft Punk and Nile Rodgers
Producer Nile Rodgers is planning another collaboration with French duo Daft Punk.

Rodgers worked with the electronic dance music (EDM) stars on their track "Get Lucky," off new album "Random Access Memories," and he's set to team up with Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter once again and resurrect an unfinished track (or more) by Rodgers' former band Chic, which he discoverd in a lost collection of his things at the Warner Music tape library.

"I found in the Warner tape library some old, unreleased Chic masters that were in boxes that said Chic (on the label) but when you op...

Daft Punk To Release 'Get Lucky' Condoms

7/10/2013 9:14am EDT
Daft Punk
Marketing executives at Durex are capitalizing on Daft Punk's summer hit Get Lucky by releasing special condoms inspired by the dance duo.

The artwork for Daft Punk's Get Lucky single has been printed on the front of individual packets of condoms, while the French band's name is emblazoned across the back.

The condoms are due to hit shelves in Europe this summer.

Daft Punk, comprised of Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, aren't the first celebrities to feature on the brand's contraceptives - British boyband JLS previously launched a range of their own Durex condoms as p...

10 Albums You Shouldn’t Miss From May 2013

6/11/2013 10:22pm EDT
Daft Punk
May 2013 was nothing short of a stellar month for music, and truly the first great music month of 2013. Without a doubt, the biggest news of the month was Daft Punk’s return to album crafting, with the masterful “Random Access Memories” but many other great records were released as well. Here are the ten most essential albums of the month:

“Obsidian” Baths

Will Wiesenfield’s first record under the Baths moniker was an eclectic, upbeat collection of electronic songs that was both spastic and innocent, but most importantly fun. The follow up, “Obsidian” is a far cry from that record thoug...

Daft Punk Unmasked In 'Champagne Pong' Photo

6/7/2013 1:07pm EDT
Daft Punk Unmasked
Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter, the French men better known as Daft Punk, were snapped playing "champagne pong" in the Sony offices in casual clothing.

The photo was then uploaded by fellow electronic duo The Knocks with the caption, "Daft Punk playing champagne beer pong (without helmets on) in the Sony offices," and minutes later the picture was taken down with the message, "Guess we weren't supposed to post that pic."

This being The Internet, the photo was quickly saved on multiple computers and re-shared. It's easy enough to find a photo of the men inside the Daft Pu...

The Morning Roundup: James Lipton Was A Parisian Pimp, Daft Punk's No. 1 Debut, Adam Levine Hates America

5/30/2013 10:00am EDT
James Lipton
Two of "The Voice" star Adam Levine's contestants on the show were voted off, and the Maroon 5 singer showed that his own voice is just fine by making a comment under his breath after we the people voted them out. "I Hate This Country," Levine uttered, not realizing his mic was still on. Naturally, the world freaked out and called for his head because no one's ever said those four words about anything before. Like when it was announced that Teen Mom-turned-porn-star Farrah Abraham would be getting her own reality show. (story)

Pimpin' ain't easy. Just ask "Inside the Actors Studio" host Ja...

5/29/2013 7:53pm EDT
Daft Punk
French EDM duo Daft Punk have topped the U.S. album charts for their first time with latest album, "Random Access Memories."

The new disc topped the U.S. album chart with 340,000 sales in its first week of sales.

New releases from Darius Rucker ("True Believers"), The National ("Trouble Will Find") and French Montana ("Excuse My French") have debuted in the number two, three and four spots, respectively. Sales from the three albums were no match for "Random Access Memories," which outsold all three combined.

The new top five on the Billboard 200 chart is rounded out by the soundtrack for...

Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Face Daft Punk Challenge On Billboard Hot 100

5/23/2013 5:37pm EDT
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis
Macklemore & Ryan Lewis are enjoying a third straight week at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, but fellow duo Daft Punk are crashing the party.

The rap duo's "Can't Hold Us" took away the top spot from Pink's "Just Give Me a Reason" three weeks ago. Pink's tune has held the second spot since, followed by Justin Timberlake's "Mirrors," Bruno Mars' "When I Was Your Man," and Rihanna's "Stay" in the top five.

Daft Punk, meanwhile, has hit the top ten for the first time in the renowned techno duo's history. They took the 10th spot with "Get Lucky," 51 spots better than their all-time best - "Ar...

"The robots have once again shown themselves to be true innovators, not only with their new musical dire...

Yeah Yeah Yeahs “Mosquito” April 16

The Yeah Yeah Yeahs have had a few brushes with mainstream success in the form of singles like “Maps” and “Heads Will Roll,” but on their latest release they sound more edgy and experimental than ever, yet manage to also be completely entertaining and engrossing at the same time. It’s clear from this record th...
