Former Crowded House Drummer Dies Of Brain Cancer

Former Crowded House drummer Peter Jones has lost his battle with brain cancer.

The musician succumbed to the disease on Friday, reports Australia's Herald Sun.

A statement on the band's official website reads, "We are in mourning today for the death of Peter Jones. We remember him as a warm hearted, funny and talented man, who was a valuable member of Crowded House. He played with style and spirit. We salute him and send our love and best thoughts to his family and friends."

Jones replaced band member Paul Hester for two years after he left the group in 1994.

Scarlett Johansson has been approached by politician-turned-environmental activist Al Gore to help promote his forthcoming Live Earth gigs. The actress was contacted by the climate-change philanthropist during a ten-day visit to Asia with charity Oxfam earlier this year, with Gore leaving a message on her mobile phone to request her support.

Crowded House singer Neil Finn coped with his bandmate Paul Hester's suicide by holding a wake at London's Albert Hall. Australian band Crowded House were "relieved" when drummer Paul Hester quit the group. The musician left the band in 1994 and front man Neil Finn insists the departure was much-needed. He says, "The day he said he wanted to leave it was like an end to some horrible tension."
