Cream's Jack Bruce Wants Simon Cowell 'Exterminated'

January 10th, 2011 7:29pm EST
Jack Bruce
British rock icon Jack Bruce has called for Simon Cowell's extermination - because he believes the music mogul is single-handedly wrecking the industry.

The Cream star insists so many great acts would never have made it in the 1960s if Cowell had been a major part of the music business - and the bass player fears for the future of music under svengalis like the man behind TV talent shows The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent.

Bruce tells Britain's Uncut magazine, "He should be exterminated.

"You can pretty much guarantee that had that bastard Cowell been around at the beginning of the '6...

July 10th, 2010 5:15pm EDT
Led Zeppelin
Music mogul Harvey Goldsmith almost missed out on the one-off Led Zeppelin reunion he helped stage in 2007 - because his father-in-law died as the supergroup were about to take the stage.

The British promoter put the Ahmet Ertegun tribute show together in London after meeting with Robert Plant and Jimmy Page at the label boss and producer's memorial.

Goldsmith introduced the show at the O2 Arena and then heard his wife Diana's father had died as he left the stage.

He tells CelebrityAccess.com, "It was very difficult. Very difficult. It was quite odd really. I went onstage and introduced ...

Lucinda Williams' 'Little Honey' Out Oct. 14; On Tour Now

October 3rd, 2008 7:30pm EDT
Lucinda Williams
Lucinda Williams has always been adept at painting landscapes of the soul, illuminating the spirit's shadowy nooks and shimmering crannies— but she's never captured the sun breaking through the clouds as purely as on her new Lost Highway release, Little Honey.

"I'm in a different phase of my life, so there are more happy moments on this album," the singer-songwriter says of her ninth studio set. " 'Darkly introspective,' is one phrase people have used to describe a lot of my songs. There are moody songs, but I'm looking outside myself a little bit more. These aren't 'boy meets girl, b...

A List of The Most Identifiable And Influential Drummers Of Our Time

July 16th, 2008 10:33am EDT
Keith Moon
Even though drummers are beat makers of a band, the recognition they often get is nothing compared to that of the lead singer and resident guitarist who both tend to attract the most attention at first. The best thing about drummers is that whatever band that they are in, they are uniquely appropriate for that particular band. For example, Ringo Starr's drumming is perfect for The Beatles, but his style would be considered unimaginable behind any Rolling Stones songs. Here's our thumbs up list to some cool Rock Drummers who we feel are immediately identifiable for their drumming techniqu...

Can Guitar Hero Top Itself?

April 10th, 2008 2:30pm EDT
Guitar Hero
When the first Guitar Hero was released for the Playstation 2 in November 2005, it was met with both critical acclaim and a lot of buzz: a video game that substituted a simulated guitar for the standard controller? Why, it was unheard of! The game sold a modest 1.5 million copies and was popular enough to launch an entire franchise that has only gotten better with time.

Take, for example, the setlists. The original game, with a mere 47 songs, was composed of almost entirely cover versions. Guitar Hero II, on the other hand, contained 64 songs, four of which were actually recorded by th...

Chris Marsol
Let's face it, they've got us all figured out. It's a formula no doubt. Multiply your age by your city and state, add your disposable income level then divide that by your ethnicity and they will surely be able to determine what kind of music you listen to and how to get you to buy it. And unfortunately, we as a society rarely disappoint. Yet we all know that Nirvana fan that used to sneak in her room when no one was privy and pop in that N' Sync album, all the while publicly detesting pop music. That was our first lesson in pop culture: things are rarely as simple as they seem. We l...

Eric Clapton Suffers Hearing Loss From Years Of Loud Performances

Eric Clapton is going deaf - because of his own rock concerts. The legendary guitarist has revealed he suffers from mild tinnitus, ringing in the ears, and is convinced his excessively loud performances with Cream back in the 60s are to blame.

He told Daily Express newspaper: "My hearing isn't ruined, but if I stop and listen I've got whistling all the time which I suppose is a mild tinnitus. I probably had two 100-watt stacks at the height of things and I would turn one on for guitar solos. It was just mad!"

Clapton isn't the only 60s musician losing his hearing. The Who frontman...
