Country Joe & The Fish is a rock band most widely known for musical protests against the Vietnam War, from 1966 to 1971, and also regarded as a seminal influence to psychedelic rock. The band was founded by “Country Joe” McDonald on lead vocals, and Barry “The Fish” Melton on lead guitar. The duo remained the core of the outfit which by 1967 included Gary “Chicken” Hirsh on drums, David Cohen on keyboards and Bruce Barthol on bass. This lineup only lasted two years before the band's 1969 Woodstock Festival performance, which included Greg 'Duke' Dewey on drums, Mark Kapner on keyboards and Doug Metzler on bass.
