Elvis Costello still not sure about retirement

September 23rd, 2013 3:00am EDT
Elvis Costello
Elvis Costello may have recorded his last album - he is contemplating retirement once his new project with The Roots is released.

The Oliver's Army singer admits he has been thinking about stepping out of the spotlight to spend more time with his family for a few years and he has yet to decide if that time has come.

He tells Rolling Stone magazine, "I have a responsibility to my and my family's well-being.

"I just lost my father (in 2011) and just as romantic disaster governs your younger life, mortality affects the way you do things when you're older. If you're going to leave home to to...

British singer Elvis Costello has defended his decision to perform a controversial song about late U.K. Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher during his televised set at Glastonbury festival.

The star first released his protest song, Tramp The Dirt Down, in 1989 but he has revived it since Thatcher's death in April (13) and he performed it during his recent show at Britain's iconic music festival.

The decision to resurrect the track has prompted a backlash, with critics accusing Costello of insensitivity towards Thatcher's grieving relatives as the tune includes the line, "I'll stand on your g...

2012 Grammy Awards Fashion: Some Wore Colors While Most Wore Black On A Bittersweet Evening

February 13th, 2012 12:54pm EST
2012 Grammy Awards
The 2012 Grammy Awards will forever be remembered for one reason: the event took place the night after the music industry lost one of their biggest stars in an untimely fashion: Whitney Houston.

Despite the somber undertones of host LL Cool J's opening prayer for the late singer and a rousing performance of her hit song "I Will Always Love You" by Jennifer Hudson; the night was about the music and the attitude that the show must go on.

As always with award shows, the night is also about the fashion. While many stars wore black - perhaps in honor of the late Houston - many stars let the c...

In May, rocker Costello cancelled two planned gigs in Tel Aviv on June 30 and July 1, insisting it was "a matter of instinct and consc...

Gold and beige were hot colors at last night's Grammy Awards. Sexy "Tik Tok" pop star Ke$ha wore a flirty gold fringed dress. Carrie Underwood took the stage in a strapless gold gown but wore a white dress with an asymmetrical neckline on the red carpet.

Fergie stood out in her electric blue and gold dress, which had a hint of Egyptian flare. Taylor Swift was one of our top picks of the night in a blue sparkly floor-length Kaufman F...

'(500) Days Of Summer' & Other Films With Great Impromptu Music Scenes

December 21st, 2009 10:15pm EST
500 Days of Summer
(500) Days of Summer was one of the best movies of the year. The Golden Globe nominated film will be released on DVD on December 22nd

, and for those who haven't seen it - we recommend you check it out.

We especially love the musical scene where Joseph Gordon-Levitt charms the audience with his dance moves to Hall & Oates "You Make My Dreams Come True." His character, Tom, falls head over heels in love with Zooey Deschanel's character, Summer, and what better way to express his love than in song? When he thinks about her he wants to sing and dance and everyone else is as happy as he is...

Have The Jonas Brothers Lost Their Luster?

June 16th, 2009 9:34am EDT
Jonas Brothers
Recent rumblings in the press seem to suggest that the Jonas Brothers are not the hot commodity they once were. Consider, for example, the release of their recent 3D film project "The Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience." It pulled in just a little over $12 million. Yes, they are still a million dollar music act, but the millions that they are now generating is deemed under par for a top selling act of today. However, this scenario perhaps had more to do with the fact that parents weren't on board to shelling out the $20 price tag that came with the flick.

Is the trio to suf...

'30 Rock' Finale Recap: 'Kidney Now'

May 15th, 2009 1:00am EDT
30 Rock
In the season finale of 30 Rock, we pick up last week's kidney cliffhanger with Jack feeling some sort of obligation to help the man he admits he does not even know for sure is his dad. He goes to Liz to ask her opinion, stating that the kind of hopes he's not even a match. Well, if anyone can fudge results of a compatability test, it should be Dr. Leo Spaceman, who mixed up the forms and documented that Jack would be giving his professor dad the kidney. Hell, he probably won't even need to fudge anything; I'm sure he makes lab mistakes all the time.

Thanks to the success of the Tim...

The video also features a cameo from porn star L...

Diana Krall's Latest, 'Quiet Nights', Out March 31

March 29th, 2009 1:00pm EDT
Diana Krall
Some music is intended to paint a romantic scene - a candlelit dinner, a walk along a moonlit beach. Quiet Nights - Diana Krall's twelfth album - ain't about that. Using Brazil as a musical point of reference, the award-winning pianist and singer is not suggesting a night out; she means to stay in.

"It's not coy. It's not 'peel me a grape,' little girl stuff. I feel this album's very womanly - like you're lying next to your lover in bed whispering this in their ear."

She's not kidding. From Krall's refreshing version of "Where or When," to an utterly soul-stilling rendition of "Yo...
