Christmas With Nat King Cole And Fred Waring & The Pennsylvanians allows Capitol Records' discount arm, Capitol Special Markets, to combine two Capitol recording artists on one LP for the Christmas season. Cole and Waring do not perform together, note. Rather, eight Cole Christmas recordings, starting with "The Christmas Song," are interspersed with four numbers by Waring and the Pennsylvanians. The two artists' styles are not similar -- Cole's intimate vocal approach is in contrast to the busy big band arrangements and perky choral singing of the Waring selections. If these are your two favorite Christmas artists, this may be your ideal seasonal album. Otherwise, you might want to pick up records devoted exclusively to one or the other.
