Cocteau Twins were an alternative rock band from Grangemouth, Scotland who hit the height of their success in the 1980s. The band formed in 1979 with Elizabeth Fraser on vocals, Robin Guthrie on guitar and drum machine, and Will Heggie on bass guitar (later replaced by Simon Raymonde). The band's musical style relied largely on atmospheric, non-lyrical vocals. Fraser's distinctive voice caught the attention of the press almost immediately. The band's debut album, “Garlands,” arrived in 1982 on 4AD Records and became an instant success.
