Bruce Cockburn was born in 1945 in Ontario, Canada as is a folk/rock singer guitarist. Drawn to music at an early age, Cockburn was determined to make a living as a musician. During his teenage years and early 20s, Cockburn got his professional start playing locally in a number of Toronto bands until he landed a spot in The Imperials, who later changed their name to Olivus. 1967 marked Cockburn’s first solo appearance at the Mariposa Folk Festival, which he went on to headline in 1969. 1968 saw Olivus open up for The Jimi Hendrix Experience and Cream.
