Tom Cochrane was born on May 14, 1953 in Lynn Lake, Manitoba, Canada and is rock musician who is best known for his international hit song, “Life Is a Highway.” Cochrane rose to fame in the 1980s and produced other hits, such as “Lunatic Fringe,” “Human Race” and “I Wish You Well.” Cochrane first came into prominence as the front man for the Canadian rock band, Red Rider, with whom he won seven Juno Awards. 2009 saw Cochrane inducted onto the Canadian Walk of Fame. Cochrane was drawn to music from an early age and brought his first guitar when he was 11 years old after selling his toy train set.
