The Chi-Lites is a soul group formed in the late 1950s in Chicago and led by Eugene Record that came into prominence in the 1970s. The group consisted of Record, Robert Squirrel Lester, Clarence Johnson, Marshall Thompson and Creadel “Red” Jones. Johnson left in 1965 and Jones left in 1973, being replaced by Stanley Anderson, then Willie Kensey, and finally, Doc Roberson. Shortly thereafter, Record left, and David Scott and Danny Johnson, who was replaced by Vandy Hampton in 1977, joined. Record was the group's primary songwriter and wrote two of the group's biggest hits, 1971’s “Have You Seen Her” and 1972’s “Oh Girl” which peaked at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 Singles cha...
