CanelaCanela Release Date 2001 05 29 Label Dreamworks SKG Rating: ![]() Canela (pronounced Kuh-NAY-luh) is the Los Angeles-based singer's debut album. The album is a pleasant attempt to cross over into the Britney Spears-dominated pop world. The album was produced in the main by super-producer Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, with cameo roles by Tim & Bob (Sisqo's &"Thong Song") and DJ Clue. Canela has a very distinctive voice and the set has a very nice flow. However, there is no strikingly original material that would make it standout amongst its peers. The pick of the album would be the second single, &"Everything," produced by Jerkins and featuring him from the outset. Strong in places, weak in others, the debut album from Canela may not be consistent enough to see her through to her sophomore set. Paul Clifford, Rovi |
