So, what's in a name you may ask? Apparently, everything. A music act or band's name should be concise, easy to remember, easy to say, and make some sort of cognitive impression. We've compiled a list here of current bands with names that just don't make a lot of sense.


The Goth Rock band HIM strangely carries a name that has long been traditionally regarded as a religious associative term. Plus, finding the band on some music search engines is still like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

Bassist Leaves CSS

CSS have parted ways with their bass player Ira Trevisan. The band confirmed it has become a five-piece following the departure of Trevisan on Friday. Drummer Adriano Cintra will now take over bass duties.

But Trevisan vows to continue her music career.

She says, "I decided to move forward and dedicate more of my time to fashion and other projects. Just a big change of priorities, as I will never stop playing music. CSS will always be in my heart. They said goodbye to their bass player, but they won a new life-time fan. In health and sickness, in happiness and so forth. Blah bla...

CSS Blast Airport For Lollapalooza Gaffe

Electro-rockers Cansei De Ser Sexy (CSS) have hit out at an American airline for forcing them to miss the Lollapalooza festival after they lost their luggage.

The Brazilian stars were due to play a set at the Chicago, Illinois, festival on Saturday, but had to cancel their appearance after becoming stranded at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport due to the luggage blunder.

Writing on their MySpace profile, CSS rant: "Corporate pigs hope you rot in hell!"

Veteran rockers Pearl Jam turned political during their closing set at U.S. music festival Lollapalooza on Sunday, launching a blistering attack on oil giant BP and calling for an end to the war in Iraq.

The Last Kiss stars wowed crowds with a two-hour set at Grant Park, performing tracks including Daughter, Evenflo and BetterMan to bring the three-day Chicago, Illinois event to a resounding close.
