'Hawaii Five-0' Recap: 'Ki'ilua' (2.10)

November 22nd, 2011 2:06am EST
Hawaii Five-O
This week's Hawaii Five-0 feels like a sweeps episode. Our hero held at gunpoint by a former friend and in need of rescue? Definite attention-getter. Thankfully, "Ki'ilua" doesn't stop there, keeping hold of us through the hour.

Before we get to that point, though, we must deal with the murder of investigative reporter Bethany Morris (Kaytlin Borgen), who gets yanked out from under her bed like Maggie Grace in Taken. The obvious question is "What was she working on that got her killed?" Seems Bethany was a whistleblower poking her nose around in corporate business. Nothing you have...

The Slow Learners cocky musical swagger sounds as if it were born in New York City smoky bars and exclusive venues, you know, the kind in alleys with no signs. They have a certain air of cool to them, but it might surprise to find out that the band calls the Nation's capital, Washington, DC home.

While it may be hard to specifically pinpoint the accurate adjectives and nouns to describe the bands' music, the words eclectic and diverse do come to mind.

"We would describe it as Frank Zappa meets the Blues Brothers with a little Jimmy Buffett, says vocalist/guitarist Ed Jentsch. "It's ...

Sauce Boss
One morning in the early 70's, the Sauce Boss walked out of his house and found a 1933 vintage national steel guitar in his front yard. That lead him down the path of the Blues. Deep in the shed, he penned "Let the Big Dog Eat", which was featured in Jonathan Demme's film "Something Wild". Years later, he combined his blues with his hot sauce in a big pot of gumbo, made right on stage. Singing the recipe, he mixed his music and cooking together into a new medium.

Since 1990, the sauce boss has fed over 135,000 people, all for free while playing his own swampy Florida blues. A Sauce Bos...
