David Byrne Sues Politician Over 'Road To Nowhere'

May 25th, 2010 12:00pm EDT
David Byrne
Former Talking Heads star David Byrne is suing a Florida politician for using his Road To Nowhere hit as a campaign anthem - without permission.

He tells Billboard.com, "I was pretty upset by that... (This) is not about politics... It's about copyright and about the fact that it does imply that I would have licensed it and endorsed him and whatever he stands for."

Byrne is b...

Rocker Jackson Browne only sued John McCain over the use of his song in a political video, so he could land free publicity, according to lawyers representing the former presidential candidate.

Three months on, following McCain's defeat to Barack Obama, the Arizona senator has responded in new legal papers, obtained by TMZ.com.

August 7th, 2008 7:00pm EDT
The Gabe Dixon Band
Who turns down a personal offer to play keyboard on Paul McCartney's world tour? Gabe Dixon did, and it was probably the best decision of his life. Dixon respectfully turned McCartney down to focus his energies on his band's then-yet-to-be-released album.

The first incarnation of The Gabe Dixon Band was born nine years ago as a jam band with heavy jazz influences, but after a bout of cutbacks and regime changes at their original label, the band members had a collective epiphany and decided to reinvent themselves as a song-based trio. A reviewer for The Nashville Tennessean, Dixon's hom...

May 16th, 2008 10:52am EDT
Bob Marley
In one week, "American Idol" will add one more solo artist to the music history.

Whoever it is, they have their work cut out for them. America has a penchant for producing legendary solo artists. People like Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen and Marvin Gaye all came from America. Britain may have the monopoly on bands with the likes of The Beatles, The Who, and The Rolling Stones, but our sense of Independence has allowed us to produce the best solo acts of all time.

Still, some of these solo artists have received glowing reviews when completely unwarranted. Others have been nearly...

April 4th, 2008 2:01pm EDT
Sheryl Crow
Successful singer-songwriters have spanned across the decades, but no era saw them flourish like the 1970s. James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Dan Fogelberg, Carly Simon, Jackson Browne and Neil Young (to name a few) were tearing up the airwaves. Their simple, thought-provoking melodies struck a chord with a Vietnam War-torn America and left an indelible mark on the modern music biz. Well, tune your radios and adjust your mp3 players, folks. The 70s singer-songwriter sound is back - with a whole new batch of artists.

Jackson Browne live (1978):
