9 Music Videos Once Considered Controversial

April 17th, 2014 5:03pm EDT
Fiona Apple
Entertainment boundaries change all the time and while musicians have always been provocateurs, some of their music videos end up laughably formulaic after a few years. Here are 9 music videos once considered controversial.

Criminal - Fiona Apple. The song that made Fiona a hit in 1997 was attached to a dim music video that seemed to follow heroin addicts. The frail singer drapes herself across furniture and in bathtubs in various states of undress. When it was released, critics saw it as an advertisement for drug use and even child porn thanks to Apple's slight stature.

'American Idol' Season 9 Atlanta Auditions

January 14th, 2010 9:31am EST
American Idol
Thanks to the delay of "Our Little Genius" we got a full 90 minutes of 'Idol' last night rather than the scheduled 75. It's just too bad that the extra time didn't add any extra entertainment.

One episode into the audition round, and it's already getting tired all over again with the same formula we've seen for years plodding along like a lame horse. And the scariest part? Next year we may face the same alternating parade of good and bad without Simon.

Of course, the show wasn't all bad. We did get to see a few highlights. . .

Unexpected Celebrity Career Changes

April 7th, 2009 9:30am EDT

Career changes like these are made especially possible in today's celebrity world thanks to contraptions like auto-tune, which has lead to the replacement of talen...

John O'Hurley Discusses His New CD, 'Family Feud,' & His Role As Peterman On 'Seinfeld'

February 17th, 2009 11:05am EST
John O Hurley
I lied to John O'Hurley. I told John O'Hurley -- who is best known for his role as J. Peterman on Seinfeld -- on my own merit, that I was going to avoid any questions about Seinfeld. I swear, I gave it a gallant effort. I really thought I was going to make it through. Do you realize how hard of a subject this is to avoid when an actor is so known for a role; especially when that character is on a show I still love? Sadly, I succumbed to temptation. I accept your scorn.

Thankfully, John was more than willing to discuss the iconic show along with his new classical CD, Family Feud, why he...
