Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn has shed doubt on the supergroup's future after revealing he and co-founder Jamie Hewlett have fallen out.

Just days after announcing his Britpop band Blur's summer Olympics gig will be their last ever, Albarn reveals his other chart-topping act is also on an indefinite hiatus.

He says, "I think we (Albarn and Hewlett) were at cross purposes somewhat on that last record, which is a shame. So until a time comes when that knot has been untied...

"The music and the videos weren't working as well together, but I felt we'd made a really good record, and I was in...

Blur will also release a new single entitled Under the Westway around the same time as the big show - but frontman Damon Albarn has quashed speculation an album of fresh material will follow, because he wants...

Blur Records Songs, But Don't Hold Your Breath For An Album Anytime Soon

February 16th, 2011 3:36pm EST
Blur
Reformed British band Blur are recording tracks for their first new album since 2003 - but fans face a six-year wait to hear the songs.

The hitmakers revealed last year they were planning to record as Blur once again, but in January, drummer Dave Rowntree claimed they had still not entered a studio together.

Now guitarist Graham Coxon has revealed Blur are recording tracks sporadically - although it could be a long time before they're released.

New Blur Album Still On Hold

January 17th, 2011 4:32pm EST

Blur rocker Dave Rowntree has urged fans not to anticipate an album from the band this year, insisting the group's plans to record its first record in almost a decade are not "concrete".

The Parklife hitmakers returned to the music scene after a six-year hiatus to headline a series of U.K. festivals in 2009.

Frontman Damon Albarn, who has been touring with his other band Gorillaz, revealed late last year that the group was planning to work together again, fuelling reports the band is preparing to record a new album - the first since 2003's Think Tank.

However, drummer Rowntree insists ...

December 23rd, 2010 12:12am EST
Gorillaz
Gorillaz and Blur star Damon Albarn has warned Glee producers not to contact him about using his songs on the TV show - because he can't forgive them for stealing the Beatles' U.S. pop chart record.

Albarn has yet to be asked to be a part of the hit musical show but he insists he'll never agree to let his songs be a part of the program.

The Brit is still upset by the fact the cast of Glee toppled the Fab Four's record for most appearances on the Billboard Hot 100 by a non-solo act earlier this year.

Albarn says, "Those songs won't last like the Beatles... They'll be forgotten in a few ye...

Top 10 Albums Of The 80s

Michael Jackson Bad
When I first comprised this list, I had all the usual suspects: Thriller, Closer, Daydream Nation, Purple Rain - you know, the albums you see on every other top 10 list for the 80s.

I got about four or five albums when something told me to go back and actually listen to "Thriller" again, from start to finish. Then I listened to Bad¸ Michael Jackson's follow-up, and it became clear that record sales alone doesn't make an album the greatest. Don't believe me? How do you feel about Britney Spears' Oops...I Did it Again - no? You sure? All righty, then.

Yes, sometimes albums are great beca...

The king's ransom of influential and diverse U.K.-based indie pop & rock acts that emerged from Great Britain in the broad wake of '80s post-punk has never been chronicled with serious attention -- until now, and Rhino's vast 4-CD retrospective The Brit Box: U.K. Indie, Shoegaze, And Brit-Pop Gems Of The Last Millennium does just that.

While many artists featured here enjoyed superstar status in Mother England, their impact on U.S. charts was more peripheral-- but their stylistic imprint and collective uber-hip peer-pressure on late 20th century popular music overall is undeniable. Wit...
