Kanye West will receive the Artist Achievement Award at the 2005 Billboard Music Awards, which will be held Dec. 6 at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena. West is being recognized both for his artistic excellence and Billboard chart accomplishments. Tom Petty will receive the Century Award, Billboard's highest honor for creative achievement.

Green Day, R. Kelly and Toby Keith will perform at the 2005 Billboard Music Awards, live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena Tuesday, Dec. 6 (8:00-10:00 PM ET live/tape-delayed PT) on FOX. Carmen Electra, Bo Bice, Nick Cannon, Chingy, Hulk & Brooke Hogan and the Blue Man Group will make special appearances. Tom Petty will receive the Century Award, Billboard's highest accolade. The show's host, additional performers and additional artists scheduled to appear will be announced closer to air.
