"I'm so sad that he's gone but his hypnotic voice telling a story of a Perfect D...

'American Idol' Recap: The Contestants (& Judges) Disappoint On Movie Night

4/14/2011 8:10am EDT
American Idol
I just couldn’t wait to see how they did.

For once, I’m not talking about the contestants. Last night it was the judges’ performance that had me most anxious for the show to begin. After Pia’s exit, they’d been taking a ton of flak from myself and endless other ‘ American Idol’ recappers saying it was finally time for them to toughen up.

And this was the perfect night to test. After weeks and weeks of solid performances all down the line, last night we got our first really consistently bad night from the contestants. A night that totally blew out my restrictive theme theory – because last...

Overrated & Underrated Pop Duets

10/3/2008 10:11am EDT
Paul McCartney/Stevie Wonder
Sometimes one just ain't enough.

That's a line, okay an amended line, from the rarest of rock treats - the duet. Everyone loves when two pop icons team up for a single. It's just like those rare occasions when two solo wrestlers join forces for a super tag-team.

Just like its brethren in the WWE the results for pop duets are often much less than the sum of their parts. Still, each duet holds a special spot, or two, in the minds of music fans.

So it's easy to say that all duets are overrated isn't it? Well, that would be the case if it weren't for the fact that so many gr...

What does a network that airs reality sludge all day long know about the 100 greatest anything? Since it seems that everyone is an expert these days despite their lack of qualifications, I give you my list of the best white rappers of all time. Keep in mind, this list is compiled by a black man who plays an acoustic guitar and writes songs that owe more to Bob Dylan than Chuck D (who is a Dylan fan, by the way).

But that's the point, Hip-Hop Nation. Whereas rap was onc...
