The couple will marry in France this spring in a huge and lavish ceremony, and the 'Stronger' rapper is hoping to convince the R&B singer to perform her 1997 hit to mark their special day.

Mary J. Blige's father was hospitalized on Thursday after a former girlfriend stabbed him three times, including once in the neck.

Police were called to Thomas Blige's home at the Arbors of Battle Creek, an apartment complex in Michigan, at 6:58 a.m. Authorities found blood in the snow near the entrance before discovering Blige, 63, in his apartment with a knife by his side.

The singer's father was rushed to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo where he underwent emergency surgery. Blige remains in critical condition.

Thomas Blige, 63, is fighting for his life after he was stabbed three times, including one blow to the neck, allegedly by a former girlfriend following a domestic dispute at his home at the Arbors of Battle Creek, an apartment complex, in Michigan on Thursday (01.23.14).

Mary J. Blige's father is fighting for his life after a stabbing incident in Michigan on Thursday (23Jan14).

Thomas Blige, 63, has been hospitalised in a critical condition after sustaining three stab wounds in an alleged altercation with an ex-girlfriend, according to the Battle Creek Enquirer newspaper.

The 50-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with assault with intent to murder. She is expected to be arraigned on Friday (24Jan14).

Blige underwent surgery at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

TD Bank has reached a new settlement with the 'No More Drama' singer's charity, The Mary J. Blige and Steve Stoute Foundation for the Advancement of Women Now Inc., which defaulted on a $250,000 loan last year, and has agreed to reduce the amount owed plus interest from $322,000 to $125,000.
