DVD Review: Black Label Society - 'Unblackened'

January 8th, 2014 2:23pm EST
Black Label Society
If you have ever wanted to see Black Label Society in a different light, then there’s has perhaps been no better chance than their Unblackened release, a quasi-acoustic release that showcases just another facet to Zakk Wylde’s already loaded musical arsenal.

This is as laid back as you’ll ever find the normally burly and bearded hard rockers, a lengthy, stripped down, symphonic setlist that harkens all the way back to the band’s 1999 release Sonic Brew (“Spoke in the Wheel”) and 2000’s Stronger Than Death (“Rust”), though the staples are here, reimagined for all to see (“The Blessed Hellri...

Zakk Wylde Gives Up Booze

March 11th, 2011 4:20pm EST
Zakk Wylde
Rocker Zakk Wylde has turned his back on his Wildman years by giving up drinking. The Black Label Society musician was a notorious hellraiser during his years on the road as Ozzy Osbourne's guitarist, but he gave up booze 18 months ago.

Wylde was diagnosed with a rare blood clotting disorder in 2009, and was put on a course of medication which required him to stop drinking, but he's adamant giving up alcohol was not difficult.

He even shunned Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) meetings because he would rather spend his time doing household chores than pouring out his troubles to the help group.
