Pixies' Frank Black Launches Own Record Label

The Pixies frontman Frank Black has launched his own record label.

The Monkey Gone to Heaven singer recently founded The Bureau and he's now in the process of recruiting new talent with limited resources.

Black tells, "Running a label today isn't that different than at any other time. There's less money floating around, but I think it's a good thing. I think it's more honest. It just puts the pressure on everybody to be good."

The Pixies frontman Frank Black only reformed the band for the bumper pay check - insisting the group's music career is "not about art" any more. The legendary group first split in 1993 and re-grouped in 2004 before parting ways once again in 2008.

Last year the band returned to the music scene with an appearance at the Isle of Wight festival in Britain in June, followed by a string of autumn dates.

And Black admits their ongoing reunion was staged purely for financial reasons.

Black Francis To Unveil Soundtrack To 1920 Movie

Rocker Black Francis has turned movie soundtrack composer - The Pixies star has written a new score for 1920 German silent film The Golem.

Francis - aka Frank Black - will premiere his new soundtrack with a performance at a screening of the expressionist movie at the San Francisco International Film Festival in April.

The concert/screening takes place at the city's Castro Theatre on April 25.

Cult rocker Frank Black is still haunted by the memory of his recent visit to the home of tragic artist Herman Brood - because the house has remained exactly the same as it was when the Dutchman died in 2001.
