32 Most Notable Music Moments Of 2015 (So Far)
Every year is filled with news, whether good or bad. 2015 is no different from any other year, with an assortment of politically and socially charged events occurring. That’s the nature of the beast called life. The same goes with music, too. There have been numerous notable moments and occurrences, so many that it would be impossible to recap them all. So we won’t try – we’ll choose 32 of the most notable music moments of 2015 so far, and hope we didn’t miss too many important ones along the way!

What Did Shirley Manson Have To Say About Kanye West?

2/10/2015 10:55am EST
Shirley Manson Gives Kanye West A Verbal Thrashing Over His Gram
At last night's Grammys, Kanye West nearly pulled a second "Imma let you finish" when Beck won Best Album of the Year.

Beck, it turns out, was totally cool with it. Apparently, he thought Beyonce was a shoo-in to win too.

But Shirley Manson, lead singer of the band Garbage, has a bone to pick with Kanye.

She may not have had the Grammy platform to speak publicly like Kanye did (or a seat close enough to the stage that she could just leap up there and scream her feelings), but she's speaking out nonetheless.

Manson posted a scathing reply to Kanye on her Facebook wall, arguing that Kanye...

Reaction To 57th Annual Grammy Awards Winners
The Grammy Awards are always interesting – at least in regards to who gets recognized with Grammys and who is snubbed. Coming into the 57th Annual Grammy Awards, the favorites were Beyoncé and Sam Smith. After the 57th Grammy Awards were finished, Sam Smith went home with four awards (three in big categories), Beyoncé left with only three, and Pharrell Williams pulled off two upsets, including one over Beyoncé. The biggest surprise came with Beck’s win for Album of the Year. Here are reactions to some of the most notable awards of the 57th Annual Grammys!

1) Record of the Year: Sam...

Did Kanye West REALLY Crash The Grammy Stage?

2/9/2015 7:13am EST
Why Did Kanye West REALLY Crash The Grammy Stage?
Sure, Kanye West has the whole "music" thing locked down pretty solid, but pop culture will forever know him as that guy who leaped onto the stage at the 2009 VMAs, grabbed the mic and told the world that Taylor Swift was cool and all, but Beyonce is way better.

And at last night's Grammys, he did the same damn thing.

After Prince announced that Beck had won Album of the Year, Kanye charged the stage, just as before- only at the last second, he turned to the cameras, gave a quick smile and a wave and retreated.

At the time, it seemed like an obvious joke, that Kanye was poking fun ...

57th Annual Grammy Awards: Predicting 10 Of The Most Coveted Awa
Victory, defeat, triumph, breakout, and upsets are some words that can be used to describe the Grammys. Like every awards show, there are winners and then there are losers who probably should have been winners. It goes with the territory, no matter how fortunate or unfortunate it is. The Grammys can be likened as a Super Bowl for musicians, even if being decorated in Grammys isn’t a necessity to cement musicianship or solidify artistic legacy – look at those who historically were never nominated or victorious. Still, writing off music’s most prestigious award is ludicrous in itself. Po...

Album of the Year:

10 Incredibly Heartfelt Songs of 2014

10 Incredibly Heartfelt Songs of 2014
In an age dominated by big records, there’s nothing like a truly captivating, heartfelt song. That’s not to say that a record can’t be a song or visa versa, but these days, the two aren’t necessarily interchangeable. For all of the big records dropped in 2014, there are also some incredibly notable heartfelt songs that definitely deserve recognition (see the bloated, incomplete list of honorable mentions). But to keep the list from being forever long, here are 10 of the most heartfelt songs of 2014.

1) Sam Smith, “Stay With Me” (In The Lonely Hour)

Isn’t this one a total no-brainer...

Rock Legends Eric Clapton And Tom Petty Release New Albums: This Week In Music

7/29/2014 8:00am EDT
Rock Legends Eric Clapton And Tom Petty Release New Albums: This
Last week, July got a bit of a spark with pop-punk band 5 Seconds of Summer releasing their highly anticipated, self-titled debut. Midwest rapper Common would also drop his tenth album, Nobody’s Smiling.

This week, there seems to be no sure-fire bet like 5 Seconds of Summer, but there are some veteran artists leading the charge for the new releases. Those include Eric Clapton, Tom Petty (& The Heartbreakers of course), and the late, great James Brown. Here are five new albums to check out this week.

1) Eric Clapton & Friends, The Breeze: An Appreciation of JJ Cale, (Bushbranch / Sur...

30 Best Songs Of 2014 (So Far)
2014 has delivered a wealth of exceptional new songs. Some songs truly captivate with their songwriting, while others are ‘records’ which standout because of their sound. Choosing only 30 songs out of a sea filed with truly terrific songs is difficult; this list provides 30 of the best songs from January through June 2014.

1) Sam Smith, "Stay With Me"

from In the Lonely Hour

Maybe he’s ‘too emotional’ and 'sucks at one-night stands' as he sings, but Sam Smith can definitely sing – that’s the understatement of the year. The soaring, highly relatable “Stay With Me” exemplifies Smith’...

Our March Playlist - Check Out The Best Songs Off The Best Albums This Month

3/31/2014 7:00pm EDT
Beck - Morning Phase
March was a rich month for music releases. After listening and reviewing multiple albums, it is always fun to pick out one big time standout. Sometimes it is a difficult choice, while other times it’s the only choice (particularly on a sub-par album). After looking back through my late-February and March reviews, I’ve compiled a playlist of one favorite from each album.

From the album Morning Phase

Note: Morning Phase was a late February release that wasn’t reviewed until March.

Folks, Beck is the man. Morning Phase was yet another stacked album from the hipster w...

Review: Beck Thrives In Acoustic Setting On 'Morning Phase'

3/13/2014 2:15pm EDT
Beck Morning Phase
After six long years, Beck – arguably the coolest musical hipster alive – finally returns with a new LP. Where in the world has Beck been? 2008 album Modern Guilt (a collaboration with Danger Mouse) managed to debut at no. 4 on the Billboard 200 Albums Chart, but wasn’t exactly a splash – understatement. In fact, one would have to skip over Beck’s 2006 effort The Information and look back to Beck’s 2005 LP Guero to find an album that made big waves commercially. 2014’s Morning Phase likely won’t win Beck enduring commercial success, but from a critical standpoint, Beck is on-point, as us...

Multi-instrumentalist Beck is sealing his comeback by releasing two new albums next year.

The 43 year-old musician announced back in October that he was preparing to release his first album in six years, and he later revealed his long absence from music was down to a recurring spinal injury.

Beck tells NME magazine, "I had a few years where I thought that was probably it for me. I mean, I'd always make mu...

But just as important as the performers are the award winners, and if you're in an office pool somewhere or on your way to Vegas and need a little help predicting the winners, you've come to the right place!
