The Owner of ‘Paul’s Boutique’ Creating Tribute Mural To The Beastie Boys

The proprietor of the Manhattan store that was featured on the cover of the innovative Beastie Boys Paul’s Boutique’ album has commissioned an artist to create a mural tribute to the legendary rap trio to mark the 25th anniversary of the release.

Yesterday, Danielle Mastrion started constructing the montage on the wall of sandwich shop Wolfnights.

The shop was Lee's Sportswear, on Ludlow Street when the original cover art was created. In January of 2009, the album was re-released in a 20th anniversary package re-mastered in 24-bit audio and featuring a commentary track.

The Beastie Boys' ongoing lawsuit with Monster Beverage Corporation, which makes the popular Monster energy drink brand, is finally over.

The hip-hop group was awarded a $1.7 million settlement by a jury, which delivered its verdict on Thursday.

The group had been seeking $2.5 million from the suit, which was filed in 2012. Parts of the group's songs "Sabotage," "So What’cha Want," "Make Some Noise" and "Looking Down the Barrel of a Gun" were used in a YouTube video for the energy beverage without the group's permission.

Officials in Manhattan have delayed proposals surrounding a Beastie Boys street honor request after declaring the plans need more support from locals.

LeRoy McCarthy launched an online campaign last year, urging NYC Community Board members to rename the corner of Rivington and Ludlow Street in the Lower East Side, which featured on the rap act's Paul's Boutique album, Beastie Boys Square.

His case went before the board but was temporarily rejected after a lengthy debate amid concerns it lacked the full backing of nearby residents.

The Beastie Boys have filed a lawsuit against the toy company that used their single "Girls" in an online ad without permission.

Toy company GoldieBlox, which used the song in its Princess Machine commercial, maintains that since the song was parodied and the lyrics were changed its protected under fair use laws, but the two surviving Beasties, Mike Diamond and Adam Horowitz maintain that it's copyright infringement and are seeking damages in the form of all profits that the ad generated for GoldieBlox.

Legendary musicians the Beastie Boys have threatened the honchos of a toy company with legal action if they don't drop a viral advertising video that features a version of their song Girls.

Brooklyn Heights residents are reportedly set to pay tribute to late Beastie Boys star Adam 'MCA' Yauch by renaming a local playground in his memory.

According to the New York Post, Palmetto Playground will become known as the Adam Yauch Playground after city officials debut the new title at a special ceremony on Friday.

Three skateboard decks designed and signed by late Beastie Boys star Adam Yauch just weeks before his death are to be auctioned off in November to raise cash for charity.
