Bauhaus frontman avoids jail after accepting plea deal in drugs case

Bauhaus star Peter Murphy has been placed on three years probation after pleading guilty to methamphetamine possession.

The She's in Parties singer was arrested for his part in a hit-and-run accident in Glendale, California in March (13), when police reportedly found methamphetamine inside the patrol car in which Murphy was detained.

The goth rocker previously pleaded not guilty to three charges, but in a Los Angeles court, he agreed to change his plea after striking a deal with prosecutors, who agreed to drop a misdemeanour charge of driving under the influence of drugs in return.

Bauhaus To Split

British goth rock supergroup Bauhaus are to split for good after releasing one final album in 2008. The Bela Lugosi's Dead hitmakers reunited to perform at California's Coachella Festival in 2005, but a recent "incident" has prompted the bandmates to go their separate ways.

So, after releasing their new album Going Away White in March, the group will part for good.

Drummer Kevin Haskins tells, "We were getting along really well, but there was an incident that occurred (and) some of us just felt that we didn't want to carry on as a working unit."
