 Count BasieShowtime Release Date 1967 Label MCA Rating:  Big bands found it very rough going in the '60s. Although he always led a superb band, Count Basie's recordings during this decade were quite streaky with the orchestra often misused behind a variety of dubious vocalists. Showtime is an instrumental set but mostly pretty horrendous with the big band playing commercial arrangements written for 20 unsuitable showtunes.
