Canadian rockers Barenaked Ladies' upcoming show at Orlando, Florida's SeaWorld has been scrapped following drummer Tyler Stewart's Twitter reveal that he and his bandmates were looking at "options" after watching a hard-hitting new documentary exposing the park staff's treatment of killer whales.

Stewart told fans that the group's Bands, Brews & BBQ date at SeaWorld, scheduled for 15 February (14), was up in the air after fans launched a petition urging the musicians to watch Blackfish - a behind-the-scenes documentary about life at the park - and they agreed to check it out.

Canadian rockers Barenaked Ladies have been forced to pull out of plans to create the music for a new Animal House stage spectacular in order to return to the studio to record a new album.

The group's frontman Ed Robertson broke the news last week (ends12Jul13), admitting he was "disappointed" that things didn't work out with the show producers.

Canadian hitmakers Barenaked Ladies have signed on to provide the original score for a new Animal House musical.

theater mogul Matty Simmons has announced plans to stage John Landis' cult 1978 comedy National Lampoon's Animal House, which starred the late John Belushi and Kevin Bacon.

The screenplay has been adapted by Douglas Kenney, Chris Miller and Harold Ramis - based on Miller's experiences as a student at the prestigious Dartmouth College in New Hampshire.

Barenaked Ladies frontman Ed Robertson escaped serious injury after surviving a plane crash on Sunday.

The singer was reportedly piloting his own boat-plane from Baptiste Lake near his hometown of Bancroft, Ontario, but struck trouble after the aircraft entered woodland area. Local police claim the craft was wrecked after it went down in the woods but all four passengers survived unharmed.

Barenaked Ladies have pulled out of a Disney charity show performance after frontman Steven Page was arrested on suspicion of cocaine possession.

The band was scheduled to play at the Disney Music Block Party in Long Island, New York, next month, but manager Terry McBride confirms they have pulled out. He says, "Members of the band completely support Steven Page but we don't want to put Disney in an awkward position before issues involving Steven's arrest are resolved."

Barenaked Ladies frontman Steven Page has decided to contest his charge of cocaine possession, despite allegedly admitting to police he was snorting the drug before his arrest last week.

Court documents, filed with the Fayetteville Village Court in New York, say the singer was arrested on Friday after police found him and 25-year-old Stephanie Ford in an apartment in Manlius, New York, with what appeared to be cocaine.

In a police statement, Ford said the two had just finished snorting what she believed to be cocaine with a rolled-up Canadian bill.

Canadian rockers Barenaked Ladies are recording a children's album for 2008. The group reveals it was inspired to record an album for younger fans by the members' own kids.

Bassist Jim Creeggan, a father of two, tells Billboard.com, "We have 11 kids in total belonging to the band. It seems like our heads are in a good place to do this now."

Ben Folds has been forced to scrap his cruise plans due to poor ticket sales. The former Ben Folds Five leader was to set sail with a floating gig in February, as part of a series of celebrity cruise concert concepts.

But it seems Folds' fans suffer from seasickness - because the pop pianist's at-sea show undersold and has now been scrapped, according to Rolling Stone magazine.

Pop pianist Ben Folds is preparing for life on the open waves after signing up to headline his own musical cruise. The Ben Folds Experience will set sail from the Port of Miami in Florida next February and will stop in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

The former Ben Folds Five frontman will perform during the cruise and plans to invite friends along for the trip.

Folds isn't the only star who'll hit the high seas with his own cruise in 2008; Lynyrd Skynyrd and Barenaked Ladies have also signed on as ship entertainment for similar treks, organized by sailing company Sixthman.

Barenaked Ladies and Lynyrd Skynyrd are set to hit the high seas next year as part of an ongoing cruise initiative.

The sea-faring bosses of Georgia company Sixthman have invited the two party groups to entertain clients as part of two separate themed cruises in 2008.

Lynyrd Skynyrd will headline on Rock Boat VIII, while Canada's Barenaked Ladies will perform on the Ships & Dip III.

Canadian Musicians Form Coalition Over Copyright Laws

Artists including Avril Lavigne and Barenaked Ladies have teamed up to form the Canadian Music Creators Coalition (CMCC) to demand tougher music copyright laws. The group's common goal is to "have our voices heard about the laws and policies that affect our livelihoods."

The CMCC refers to lawsuits filed against fans who download and share music illegally as "destructive and hypocritical" and insist it's the Canadian government's duty to protect local musicians from exploitation by enforcing copyright rules.
