Pete Doherty Wrote Amy Winehouse Cover Version Years Ago

British rocker Pete Doherty wrote his version of Amy Winehouse's hit song "Tears Dry On Their Own" more than two years before his close pal died.

The former Libertines frontman became friends with the "Rehab" hitmaker and they are reported to have supported one another as they battled their drug demons.

Winehouse's untimely death in July left him "bewildered" and he paid tribute to the singer by performing his own rock cover of "Tears Dry On Their Own" during his headlining set at the U.K.'s Leeds Festival last week.

A London judge has rejected a plea by British rocker Pete Doherty's legal team to have his cocaine possession case thrown out of court.

The singer was charged with the drug count in September, alongside his two friends, Peter Wolfe and Alan Wass, following an investigation into the death of filmmaker Robyn Whitehead.

Director Whitehead, who was working on a documentary about the troubled Libertines star, was found dead from a suspected drug overdose in an apartment in Hackney, London in January 2010.

British rocker Pete Doherty headed to court on Thursday to face a charge of cocaine possession following an investigation into the death of filmmaker Robin Whitehead.

Mystery surrounds rocker Pete Doherty's health after photos of him enjoying the French sun with friends appeared online a day after the singer/songwriter canceled a gig in Nice on Thursday night amid reports he had been hospitalized.

Nice-Matin reported the Brit was in hospital but new reports suggest he never left Paris, where he was spotted hanging out with friends on Friday.

Babyshambles star Pete Doherty has been arrested at an airport in Switzerland after he was suspected of taking drugs in an airplane bathroom.
