Aztec Camera was a new wave band formed by vocalist Roddy Frame in 1980 from Glasgow, Scotland. The band’s initial line-up consisted of Frame, Campbell Owens on bass, Craig Gannon on guitar, Bernie Clarke on keyboard and Dave Mulholland on drums. Aztec Camera’s debut single “Just Like Gold/We Could Send Letters,” was released via Postcards Records in 1981. A second single “Mattress Of Wire” was released before the band signed with Rough Trade Records. Aztec Camera's debut album, “High Land, Hard Rain,” was released in 1983 and met with critical acclaim, peaking at #129 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart.
