Gregg Allman skips New York gigs due to bronchitis

Gregg Allman was forced to skip two concerts with The Allman Brothers Band in New York after coming down with bronchitis.

The veteran rocker missed out on his shows at the Big Apple's iconic Beacon Theatre on Friday and Saturday night (21-22Mar14) as he was recovering from the illness.

Posts on the official Facebook page for the band updated fans with his status, asking that they send "healing vibes his way".

An update posted on Sunday (23Mar14) reads, "No guarantees but Gregg is improving and hopes to return to the stage for the last four Beacon shows."

Crew member killed on set of Allman Brothers biopic

A crew member for the upcoming Allman Brothers biopic Midnight Rider was killed in a train accident in Wayne County, Georgia on Thursday (20Feb14).

An unnamed woman working as a camera operator's assistant on the film was struck and killed while filming a scene on a railroad trestle.

A law enforcement official confirms to TheWrap.com that a train unexpectedly travelled down the tracks while the crew was doing camera tests for the film.

Seven other crew members were also hurt in the accident, two with serious injuries, and transported to a local hospital.

William Hurt cast as Gregg Allman in movie biopic

Oscar winner William Hurt has been aded to the cast of the upcoming Allman Brothers biopic as the older Gregg Allman.

All American Rejects frontman Tyson Ritter was cast as the younger Allman at the end of last year (13), while Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn's son Wyatt will portray Duane Allman in the film.

And on Monday (06Jan14), Hollywood veteran Hurt signed on to play the current day Gregg in director Randall Miller's movie, titled Midnight Rider.

The six-times divorced rocker, 64, told newsman Piers Morgan of his wedding plans during an appearance on his CNN talk show on Tuesday night - introducing the Brit to his 24-year-old fiancee, Shannon.

Veteran rocker Gregg Allman's doctors have given him the all-clear to continue with a book tour after undergoing cardiac testing.

The Allman Brothers icon had to pull out of plans to promote his new memoir, My Cross to Bear, on a number of TV and radio shows last week after experiencing an irregular heartbeat following recent hernia surgery.

A Tennessee man was treated for minor injuries after he was stabbed at a Gregg Allman concert on Wednesday.

The Allman Brothers Band founder was performing onstage at the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville when a fight broke out in the audience.

Security officials stepped in to break up the scuffle, but not before Ronald Sixt Jr. had been stabbed in the face after reportedly bumping into a fellow concert goer. He was transported to a hospital and treated for his injuries.

Rocker Gregg Allman is playing through the pain as he tours Europe - he feels like he's been hit "with a sledgehammer" a year after undergoing a liver transplant.

Rocker Gregg Allman is set to tell all about his colorful life in an autobiography.

The Allman Brothers Band star, who was married to Cher in the 1970s, has signed a book deal with bosses at William Morrow, part of HarperCollins Publishers.

The memoir is said to be an "unflinching" look at his brother and bandmate Duane's death from a motorcycle accident in the 1970s, Allman's substance abuse issues and his relationship with Cher.

Allman follows in the footsteps of rockers Keith Richards, Steven Tyler and Sammy Hagar, who have all recently published their memoirs.

Rocker Gregg Allman has undergone a liver transplant in Florida.

It is hoped the surgery, which took place on Wednesday morning, will aid the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member in his battle with Hepatitis C.

A spokesman for the Allman Brothers star says, "He had a successful liver transplant operation at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville. He had been on a waiting list for the transplant and is looking forward to a speedy recovery."

American rockers The Allman Brothers Band have launched a $10 million lawsuit against a record label over unpaid royalties.

The band is seeking payment from Universal Music Group (UMG) over royalties from compact disc sales and digital download services, including Apple's iTunes. The suit seeks payments from the sale of the band's songs recorded for their first label, Capricorn Records, between 1969 and 1980. Band members Greg Allman, Jai Johanny 'Jaimoe' Johanson, Butch Trucks and Dickey Betts are named as plaintiffs in the legal action.

Gregg Allman's ongoing recovery from Hepatitis C has prompted the Allman Brothers Band to scrap their upcoming performance at the Bonnaroo Festival in Tennessee.

The group announced it would be rescheduling a string of shows planned for May to allow Allman to fully recover from treatment, but it was hoped he'd be able to perform at Bonnaroo in June.

In a statement from Allman, the rocker said, "I'm getting better but I'm still tired. I need to be at 110 percent to do the shows the way we do them."
