12 'Bloody' Great Songs

12/4/2015 2:30pm EST
Good Blood, Bad Blood, Young Blood… 12 'Bloody' Great Songs
Ah blood – what a morbid, unpleasant topic! Not necessarily, as blood contextually can refer to any number of things. Perhaps it’s the bloodstream, DNA or a deeper, metaphorical context. Over the course of this ‘bloody great’ list, blood is used both literally and figuratively, depending on the artist and song. Here are 12 bloody great songs… well some of ‘em are great!

1) Future, “Blood On the Money” (DS2, 2015)

Arguably, DS2 can be described as the best album of Future’s career. It’s shallow, but even so, Future clearly sounds in his zone rapping about, well, drugs. “Blood on the Mone...

Drake And Future Take Top Honors

9/29/2015 9:02am EDT
Drake And Future Take ‘What A Time To Be Alive’ To No. 1
Lana Del Rey could practically taste her second no. 1 album – that is until Drake and Future totally ‘killed her vibe’ with surprise mixtape, What A Time To Be Alive. Expectedly, the superstar hip-hop collaboration was too much for the moody, alt-pop singer to overcome. In other words, her Honeymoon in the ‘penthouse’ wasn’t meant to be. Okay, okay, enough puns!

Drake and Future took top honors on the Billboard 200, to the tune of 375,000 units – WOW! This doesn’t outpace Drake’s earlier no. 1 album If You’re Reading This It’s Too Late or the juggernaut that was The Weeknd’s Beauty Behin...

Ryan Adams 1989
Ryan Adams has a brand new album out on iTunes (physical copies hit retailers in November) called "1989," and -- yes-- it's track-by-track cover of Taylor Swift's entire 2014 hit album of the same name.

Adams decided to record the album last December, telling Beats1 Radio's Zane Lowe that he's always had a respect for Swift's "flawless" and "perfect" songwriting, but he isn't really sure why he chose to take on the project.

"I don't know why I had this idea," he said (via "I was going through a sort of difficult time in my life."

"I got back to LA, it was around Christmas time....

He tells the New York Times, "I took a year with just figuring out how extensive the symptoms were and what was really happening in my body."

Ryan Adams Refused To Let 'New York, New York' Become 9/11 Anthem

9/11/2011 8:00pm EDT
Ryan Adams
Ryan Adams refused to play his song "New York, New York" live after it was released on September 11, 2001 - because he didn't want to exploit the tragedy.

The singer debuted the track on the same day terrorists flew two hijacked planes into the World Trade Center, and it went on to become his most successful single to date.

But Adams reveals he actually begged music TV executives not to play its accompanying music video, which features the Twin Towers, and snubbed offers to use "New York, New York" in ad campaigns and soundtracks.

He tells, "I said I wasn't working the song...

Best/Worst 'American Idol' Chicago Auditions, Including 'Boob Boxing'

1/20/2010 9:29am EST
American Idol Chicago audition
Last night the 'American Idol' auditions went to Chicago, and continually reminded us that this was where Obama got his start. In fact, we were forced to watch a four-minute opening that compared the auditions to Obama becoming our first African-American President. Because they're very close in spectrum.

This question also answered the question, "Whatever happened to Shania Twain?" as the country superstar came out of her hiding place just long enough to lend her opinion on the best (and the worst) of the two days in Chicago.

Let's start with the best. . .

5/26/2009 10:12am EDT
Mandy Moore
Who is Mandy Moore? Aside from being the 90's teen pop star with the debut hit release "So Real" in 1999, when it comes to the singer's recording career, she has been living life and pursuing her career on her own terms. As we have watched Moore mature in the public eye she has been pretty low key, except when there's inquiring news about her personal life.

One of the many recent changes in Moore's life is the fact that she is now a "Mrs." and is newly married to fellow musician Ryan Adams. Other changes can also be marked in her musical direction. While industry peers such as Brit...

Lisa Loeb

Here is the list of the Hottest Rock Stars in Eyeglasses!

Lisa Loeb

Return of the 70's Singer-Songwriter

4/4/2008 2:01pm EDT
Sheryl Crow
Successful singer-songwriters have spanned across the decades, but no era saw them flourish like the 1970s. James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Dan Fogelberg, Carly Simon, Jackson Browne and Neil Young (to name a few) were tearing up the airwaves. Their simple, thought-provoking melodies struck a chord with a Vietnam War-torn America and left an indelible mark on the modern music biz. Well, tune your radios and adjust your mp3 players, folks. The 70s singer-songwriter sound is back - with a whole new batch of artists.

6/26/2007 8:00pm EDT
Ryan Adams
Ryan Adams' Easy Tiger has been scheduled for a June 26 release on Lost Highway. The new album features The Cardinals (but is billed solely as a Ryan Adams album) and also a guest appearance from Sheryl Crow, who contributes back-up vocals on the track "Two".

It was, Ryan Adams says, this girl he's been spending time with; the title of this album is her fault. "She wanted to go out to dinner at eight; I wanted to go right away. She said, 'Easy, Tiger.' And that hit me. It stuck with me to the point where I called up Neal [that would be Neal Casal, guitarist of The Cardinals] and left ...

Ex-Replacements Paul Westerberg Releases Soundtrack to "Open Season"

9/19/2006 5:42pm EDT
Open Season
Paul Westerberg's legendary status in rock 'n' roll history is more than secure. As leader of Minneapolis post-punk/pre-grunge icons The Replacements, Westerberg was the creative force behind one of the -- if not the -- most influential rock bands of the 1980s, creating a template that would later be adapted by such diverse rockers as Nirvana and Ryan Adams, among numerous others. And since 1991, he's maintained a solo career that would make most of his peers green with envy, if critically-acclaimed albums and fan respect still have anything to do with the equation.
